New March Audio Ukkonen Speaker

Has anyone heard or purchased these? Surprised how little a footprint they have online.

Someone on stereonet Australia has Ukkonen. A few people have heard them. Not sure if many people buy it; the Sointuva is popular though.
Most people buy these March Audio speakers and like them like them it seems. A few have compared to something equivalent. I don't recall anyone trashing the sound quality. Some may prefer wider dispersion.
I recall a couple of people saying the Ukkonen sounds better. Not much extra discussion though.
I regard the use of beryllium in speakers as irresponsible, given the immense health hazards to the workers who fabricate using the metal and the ready availability of suitable alternatives.

Heard them, yes. At the Stereonet hifi show. Purchased them - I don't know anybody local (in Melbourne) who owns them.
They sound similar to the Sointuva's, maybe a little more bass.
Probably iterating and refining the design, and will publish final spin data whenever it's finished.
Absolutely gorgeous. Gotta say it reminds me of my own DIY speaker based closely on the Zaph Audio ZRT design. I regret that I didn't attempt a high gloss finish like the March's.
My drivers are both Scan-Speak per the Zaph design.
They look stunning. I would probably be a Sointuva customer if I decided to buy anything from March, but I would definitely want them in that color.They remind me of the Merlin Music VSM in Ruby Red.
If i buy a pair of Ukkonens, is converting it to active it as simple as:
-pull out the crossover
-wire tweeter and woofer to one channel each of a Buckeye PURIFI 1ET6525SA 2-Channel per side (or even a Benchmark AHB-2, of which i have a pair sitting around)
-feed the Buckeye high / low channels with outputs from an RME ADI 2/4 Pro SE with appropriate estimated crossover curves
- listen and measure / adjust crossover settings after REW review?
Or is phase importantly difficult to adjust? Or another parameter with which i am unfamiliar?
I suspect i am being naive here, but the bones of this speaker look good

There are some speakers where the passive crossover is a liability, and it maybe worth considering ditching.
March speakers dont fall into that category.
If you really want to do it, speak to Alan about building you a set without crossovers, and appropriate wiring/binding posts. Maybe cheaper without crossover parts costs

With active filters most driver filtering tasks are very easy to do.

I know that Alan uses Acourate and he most likely has a set of correction filters. So you would probably be able to obtain a set of pseudo-anechoic measurements from him. You would still need to tailor the response to your room, though.
This review from Australian HiFi was just posted by Alan, and includes measurements of the Ukkonen.
I agree, it doesn't really belong in speakers, seems it's mostly another thing to remove money from wallets considering how good soft domes and safer metal material domes are. I doubt March audio cares about the workers making the parts they use in their speakers.
I had no idea a computer was also a speaker and they have the functional value. I also didn't know a requesting to reduce the use of hazardous materials where they are not necessary was hypocritical.
