New LaiV harmony GanM monoblocks sounds better than purifi (warning subjective information)

I have changed my purifi power amp 2x200w into 2 LaiV harmony monoblocks.
What I noticed is a somewhat more lively sound and more depth and separation. Equally width soundstage but deeper.
I didn’t expect that.

System: Eversolo dmp a8--LaiV harmony monoblocks--dynaudio confidence 30

For the first time I hear a clear difference in the Eversolo dac filters.
Before I could not hear any difference in these filters.

How is that possible?

Were any of these listening tests made with basic controls in place to rule out cognitive bias?
Yes, I tried often to hear the different Dac filters on the Eversolo DMP a8, but never heard a difference. Did not know what to listen for,. And now I can hear difference. Not huge but clear differences filter 1 sharp roll off sounds best for me, a little clearer highs it seems. Maybe the LaiV amps elevate the higher frequencies a little. It also seems a bit louder with the same volume setting, a little more gain.
I also experimented a lot with the Eversolo measurement microphone and room DSP. It changes some frequencies but not to my liking so I no longer use it. Speaker placement is a better way to improve low frequencies in my opinion.

Did not expect that either because the audiophonics purifi power amp measured so good.
The Laiv amps are just better for my speakers. But should me for 3x the price……

So happy with these new amps!

You should be banned from this forum for posting such subjective BS with that thread title...

As for the amps specs, SNR/DNR is only 95 dB, which is quite poor when it comes to amps in this budget segment. The Purify is whopping 36 dB better! On distortion there is probably also no contest either.

And yet they claim:

Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the custom audio grade switched-mode power supply minimizes noise and interference, preserving even the finest micro-details in your music.

Built on next-generation GaN FETs that offer ultra-fast switching speeds, reduced distortion, and enhanced efficiency for a more refined and dynamic sound.

It should be mentioned that this could explain every difference you're mentioning here.

The reason you are getting pushback on this is that competent non-overdriven amps generally never produce an audible difference like you're describing. If you matched the levels within .1dB and did a proper blind test, it's very likely the heard differences would disappear, as in virtually every other amp comparison ever conducted.

Don’t zero global negative feedback amps have an impedance dependent frequency response?
And the stereophile review of the dynaudios says: “ The shape of the impedance magnitude trace suggests that the Dynaudio's high frequencies will be emphasized if the loudspeaker is used with tube amplifiers that have a high output impedance.”

You are a member of ASR for four years now. Enough time to learn, that sighted bias and not establishing proper controls such as level matching will almost inevitably lead to your subjective conclusions. This is only true of course, if your new amps don't interact with the impedance of your speakers altering the frequency response.

So nothing to learn hear as long as there is no evidence....

Hopefully the thread title will get changed at some point.

For £10k :eek:I’d want more than “hearing” Eversolo dac filters ;)

If those are expensive, I would hate to see the appearance of a value priced line of LAiV products.

But i have tried the dac filters on every volume level, and I could never hear a difference with my purify power amp. And now I do hear differences. And I did not know what these filters do with the sound, so it is like a blind test.
On every volume level. I have a decibel meter.
Exactly the same equipment and XLR cables.
