New Kii Seven

Have you found updated measurements anywhere? The upgrade price is $1800, plus shipping to/from Germany. But I have yet to see exactly what's improved upon
I'd assume the published measurements are for the Purifi, as it's not a new thing, The switch was a few years ago already. Kii told me the new specs are slightly better, I'd bet it's a paper improvement and not something audible.
I agree with the comment that the change to Purifi drivers would probably be significant, but I'd also assume that's a fairly involved change and is probably the reason they don't do it. The Three's were designed specifically around the present drivers.

The Kii's have been updated to Purifi electonics since the original models came out (NCore). Slightly better specs.
I didn't know that. I think the next obvious thing that needs to be done is use their own Purifi drivers. It would help with biting the bullet dealing with that price tag

Unlike an amp module swap, changing drivers may well entail a pretty substantial re-engineering task on the woofer/PR aspect of the design(s) -- unless of course the driver change could be accommodated via a DSP-implemented EQ/crossover tweak, which might be feasible if the Thiele-Small numbers of the current and upgraded woofer/PR complements happen to be fairly close to each other.

Yeah, I think they would probably want to look at doing a whole new design if they were changing to Purifi drivers. I suspect those components will cost more too.

Yeah, Purifi's drivers are pretty much the priciest on the market, so I'd anticipate a fairly major increase if Kii adopts them.

Paris Audio Video Show 2025. ;)
What are those next to the Sevens?

New interview with Bruno Putzeys about the advantages of active speakers and the Kii Seven in particular. Although he talks with little fluency, every word is pure knowledge. A must watch, especially for the people who still think passive speakers are the best. ;)

For the non believers, I made a list of benefits:

CategoryKey BenefitExplanation
Design & PracticalitySmaller Cabinet SizeDSP's dynamic equalization can compensate for the limited bass extension of a small enclosure. This allows the speaker cabinet to be significantly smaller and more aesthetically pleasing without sacrificing low-frequency performance.
Acoustic PerformancePrecision Digital CrossoversDSP enables perfectly accurate digital filters (like FIR), ensuring superior driver integration and a level of control over the acoustic output impossible with passive, analog components.
Time & Phase CoherenceDigital delays and phase adjustments ensure sound from all drivers (woofer, midrange, tweeter) reaches the listener's ears at the exact same moment, resulting in a sharper stereo image and improved coherence.
Correction & EQHigh-resolution equalization can be applied to correct any non-linearities in the drivers' frequency response, achieving a flatter, more accurate sound.
Maximized Output & ProtectionAdvanced algorithms (limiters, dynamic EQ) monitor the drivers in real-time, allowing the speaker to play louder and closer to its mechanical limits without damage.
Electrical & PowerOptimized Amplifier LoadThe active crossover is before the amplifier, meaning each amp only drives a single, unfiltered driver. This presents a simpler, more benign load, allowing the amplifier to operate more efficiently and with greater control.
Perfect Component MatchingThe designer selects and integrates the specific amplifier for each driver, ensuring the electronics are perfectly matched to the speaker's needs for maximum efficiency and predictable performance.
System & SetupSimplified CablingMany advanced systems accept the audio signal digitally. This eliminates the need for bulky, expensive, and difficult-to-run analog speaker cables by transferring a low-level digital signal.
Room CorrectionThe DSP can be used for Digital Room Correction (DRC), compensating for acoustic issues (e.g., standing waves, room modes) caused by the listening room itself.
All-in-One SimplicityIntegrating the amps, DSP, and drivers into one unit creates a cleaner, more compact, and user-friendly system, eliminating the need for separate external audio components.

Have Kii released what it is cardioid down to? I've been searching and there isn't much technical information on these even though they've been out for a while. I'm trying to decide between these or 8341A as an upgrade for my computer speakers, which I need to start a thread on after doing more searches. The back of the speaker will be pretty close to the front wall.

I believe it's something like down to 150Hz

I just read the new Stereophile review of the Kii Seven and predictably it was described as sounding excellent and very neutral, and it measured very well.

But what really caught my eye was the cumulative spectral decay/waterfall plot.

Holy cow! I thought the Grimm Audio speakers were clean but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a plot this clean:

How do they compare to the Ascilab C8C on that metric?

Interestingly, the horizontal directivity plot looked superb as well, much better than expected. My guess would be that the integration between cardioid bands, midrange cone playing alone and transitional band to the waveguide-loaded tweeter have undergone quite some improvement compared to the earlier Kii Three (which I found not to be perfect in this domain).

The waveguide on the Three is a stock unit from SEAS I believe. The waveguide on the Seven is a collaboration between Bru,o Putzeys and Lars Risbo.

Interesting, where did you get this info?

The Three doesn’t seem to measure quite as well in terms of the waterfall plot and linearity;
