New Kii Seven

It says solid Oak but there is a birch plywood layer under the Oak. At least the ones I owned 3 years ago had that.

Edit: still do
Correct. The outer "layer" of the 8C is solid OAK. (not a wood veneer).
The 8C Studio version has an outer "layer" made from MDF.

Both models have birch plywood underneath the outer "layer".

There is no difference in sound between the 8c & 8c Studio.

Magnificent speakers. I like them a lot.

I was waiting for them to arrive Q1 2024 for my smaller living room setup, but then the black friday Kef sales got the best of me.

Bought a pair of black LS60, wonder how they would compare at about half the price. Yes almost half the price, if you buy stands and the Kii control.

I was amazed how much low end the Kii’s can produce, and wonder if the Kef’s can match that with four smaller woofers. Kii’s play not super deep, but with a nice punch and pressure.

I also am puzzled if the Kef LS60 can be made “cardioid” like the Kii SeveG

If they hire a DSP genius like Bruno, maybe. Throw in some powerful amps for good measure. Given how much cardioid dispersion helps in removing room coloration, if it were easy there would be a lot more of it out there. Another reason you won't see it is that manufacturers like KEF are wedded to a multi-price speaker "line-up" with components, looks, and marketing in common. Kii started from scratch.

Finally some measurements in SOS review this month, looks good and review seems very favorable (except the price). https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/kii-seven

I am the happy owner of a new pair of Kii 7s which I brought with a Trinnov Nova.
I decided after setting up a Blind Audition of the Kii 7s , Kii 3s and the Dutch & Dutch next to each other. I think they are so good that they will seriously impact the sales of the 3s especially as they are half the price. I also auditioned separately a few others including the Mum 10s. The 10s were lovely but more biased towards studios. The 3s also suited my small narrow untreated room being able to be placed directly against a wall and having Cardioid Dispersion.
Thank goodness I also brought the Nova though, the difference that made was unbelievable. In the past i've used correction software by Lydorf and Anthem but the Nova is in a different league.

Congrats
Did you also compare them to Neumann and Genelec

No I didn't but ive heard them in other set ups. Maybe I should have carried on with the auditioning but I was blown away with them so jumped in.
Ive had them for a couple of weeks now and have hardly come out of my room. I love them.
Can't wait to hear them with direct streaming once the software is updated. 4 to 6 weeks away apparently.
I Brough them and the Trinnov from Steve at Ultimate stream who delivered and set everything up for me. I can't recommend him highly enough.
I think his allocation of 7s is sold for the next few months however.

Congratulations. Is this for home use or professional (i.e. mixing) use?

Finally a user review. I’m surprised you chose a Nova to go with it.

I’m waiting for the D&D 6C to compare. I need (the option for) very low latency for direct monitoring though. If is under 1 ms, that’s fine since I will be very near field

Is the 6C confirmed?
When will it be released?

The 7s have incredible mid and high frequencies, better than the 3s to my ears. But the 3s are slightly better in the lower frequencies as you would expect - there wasn't much in it though. The SOS review perfectly sums them up. You can read it free of charge hear. https://www.kiiaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/SOS_EN_Kii_SEVEN_dec2024.pdf

In answer to buying the Trinnov. The EQ adjustment on the Kii's are useful but its no Trinnov, there was a huge difference as soon as it was engaged. In the graph attached you can see I had an issue with the base around 50hz. I might sort this with some room correction at some point in the future so the Trinnov doesn't need to roll the base off as much. For now I just spend some more time Listening to my old Albums and CD's and enjoy what I've got.

I attach the before and after graph.

It would be interesting to measure your in-room and see how the Trinnov’s predicted actually correlates.
The target curve is very horizontally flat, is that really your preference?

As long as you ignore development costs...
Indeed. Many people here seem to under the incorrect assumption that products should be sold at the price of the electronic components, and all the hardware and software engineers should be volunteers. The truth is that for high end products, you need to recoup the development costs over a small volume of units sold. That is the main part of the price actually..

Kind of the reason why Kef will always deliver more value than a small, specialty manufacturer like Kii--given Kef is amortizing its technology and development costs over a far greater number of units than Kii could ever possibly hope to do.
