at 48khz the jitter is down at -185db
ACCUSILICON AS338 110db at 10hz
where the ACCUSILICON AS318, is down 99db at 10hz
clock is important .what gives the sound.
crystal clear sound, all details are included, as well as 3d sound.
on the neumann 310a studio monitor, one of the best, studio monitor in the world.
best dcc i have to date.
have tried singxer su1 -su2- su6 as well as sotm dX-USB HD.
but dcc gustard u18 beats them all.
and only driven 20hours gustard u18.
gets better at 50hours,
one thing I noticed ,in a soft treble,
as my studio monitor 310a, in treble they ,can be hard in sound.
but reveal in sounds.

Have you undertaken any listening tests against other spdif converters?

I presently use Matrix Audio x-spdif 2.

u18 good product,
i have a gustard a22 dac
has compare gustard a22, own usb interface.
with gustard u18 over iis2, there is better sound, more dynamics and 3d
both use xmos 216
Matrix Audio x-spdif 2. is okay ,good sound ,what is written on forums ,the old xmos 208 or new improved version xmos 216
the are questions

Clock measures circa -175dB, real world performance at the outputs though? I would love to see a comparision review.

XMOS2016 does seem to be of benefit, details cleaned from another product using the XMOS2016
"Newest XMOS XCORE-200 XU216 with 2 Tiles 16 Cores upto 2000MIPS real time processing power in dual issue mode. It is equal to two XU208 combined in one silicon chip, one dedicated tile is used for the USB data and the other tile is dedicated to process the audio data to the DAC."

I can see advantage to splitting up the two processes, can only be a good thing.

Good DAC's have jitter under -150dB on USB input.
Is it really sth. that makes a difference to use a device like Gustard U18 and on which DAC input the difference is heard?

No, it makes no difference unless you’re doing DSP.

Can't measure it, can't hear it, and the ADC that made it wasn't that good either ... soooooooooo

I saw your attachments. I don't think you understand how phase-noise effects the signal.

How do you measure -185dB? It is 5.6E10 times below 0dB. What instrument has such sensitivity?

That is phase noise at higher frequencies. Most DACs are rather immune to jitter at that frequency outside the carrier.

I asked how you measure it, not what is it.

It's 1.78E10 but we are splitting hairs.

You measure it with a super stable oscillator with low phase noise.

Using which make/model meter?

185 / 20 = 9.25
10^9.25 = 1.78E9
1 / 1.78E9 = 5.62E10

It's -185db, not 185db 1/(10^(-185/20)).

Specific make and model no idea, but Keysight, Rohde and Schwartz, Aaronia, etc.
