New Genelec Main Monitor

Thats actually pretty big it needs a crate. Just trying to figure out which body parts to sell to afford it.

They are messing with me on the images. Big enough that the crate is bigger than a person, except the example person may or may not be a tiny woman. pic 2: wider than two apearingly normal sized adults..........but is the speaker in the foreground or back further?

In true Genelec tradition, it isn't a work of aesthetic high art, but it does look pretty formidable. Would love to give a pair an audition.

I think since this is a coaxial 3-way it should have been named 8371 and the 8381 should have been named 8380 or 8391. ::shrug::

Told ya, it's small.
Whoever has received speakers in crates knows that is not all speaker inside, It's protected and stuff by lots of material around it (and some have cases inside the crate where the speaker fits like a clove, nuclear-event-protected.

Interesting though, I bet it can kick like a mule with such enclosure with broad baffle.
Small size control room, soffit-mount them and you're there.

Can it integrate with w371?
It can probably be used with it, but that's not what it's build for I think. It has no cardoid properties, and it's usual use will be flush-mounted in a Studio. It will also not fit on the W371 size-wise. The more logical combination would be with classical subwoofers.

I thought to myself that they finally made a speaker that wasn't horrific looking, until I saw the size of it from this picture. That's a no-go zone for me.
Gotta be big if you want bass and volume.

Well, it's a face only a sound engineer could love ;) But since it's mainly a coaxial replacement / update for the 1238, that's not surprising

750W amps total, class D amps for bass and mid and class AB amp for highs.
Modest for mains but if they do the job...
The more I look at its coaxial the more horn looks like to me.

I mean, this waveguide (same thing) is the whole upper section.
Directivity seems constant which is good (for me) , and FR response is surely optimized for mounting so it's the angled response that matters most.
I would like them bigger, but I think I like them!
