New Genelec 8380 main monitors

If we even had measurements, we could get 90% of the way.

The W371a is $10k more, a few db quieter, offers stereo bass and cardioid which is nice but overrated.

I like that the 8380 is 1 piece instead of 2
Also like the big woofer
Also that it's a newer design
But 8361+w371 also has advantages
Aluminum cabinets and not MDF
More round cabinets so I guess less diffraction also and no need to flush mount them
But I'd still go for the 8380 just because I'm a sucker for big speakers ;)

I was amazed by the clarity of the 8380A versus my 8361A, it breathed way more. I asked Gemini A.I about that and it replied that the w371A+8351/61A could also achieve that because the 8351B/61A won't handle some frequencies anymore.

Also the A.I told me that the only way to manage Bass frequencies in a 13 meter square room is to go with the w371A (I listen at low volume).

Does these two answers sounds correct to you or A.I bulls..t ? Thanks ;)

On the surface both are wrong. There may be elements of truth or rare contexts in which it is accurate.

I liked the openness of the 8380A, I was asking if someone compared both setup to check if the combo w371A with 8351B could offer this same, "breathe", "openness" (or if it comes from the design of the 8380A that offer a bigger wave guide) ;)

Our daughter lives in London and this year, instead of her coming to us in the States as she's done for years and years, this year we did Christmas in London. Although I am happy with my current setup (Denon AVR-X3700H, Buckeye Amps 1ET400A 3-channel, Ohm 1000 Tall's for my LCR speakers), I had become intrigued by Genelec Ones based upon reviews and comments here in ASR and from additional research. However, to actually audition these speakers from my home in North Central Arizona meant a substantial investment in time and money to get to the Genelec Experience Centre in Boston. So, I reached out to the London Experience Centre, explaining that I was not in buying mode at this time and that I just wanted to audition the Ones, and they were very accommodating and set up an appointment for me. My 90 minutes in the Center with Perry, my Genelec host, was an amazing experience. From the Ones lineup they had 8331a, 8341a and 8351b along with 8010s and 8380s. Perry was an amazing host: incredibly knowledgeable and yet very chill - encouraging me to not rush and while never trying to be the expert. Their setup was first class, enabling switching between speakers to be literally seamless. Two things stood out to me: (1) the sound of a track was amazingly identical from the 8010s through the 83080s - with just a difference in lower frequency realism, and (2) listening to a jazz duo track and an orchestral track on the 8380s, the speakers literally disappeared and in front of me were the piano and string bass or the orchestra respectively. I've never had that experience before and it was revelatory. And honestly, the 8351b's and 8341a's sounded almost as amazing as well. Ever since a friend directed me a year or so ago to Amir's review of the 8361s, I've become obsessed with Genelec the company. My experience in London only served to reinforce that they are an absolutely top class operation with products that reflect that 100%. I truly hope I am able to afford to upgrade to Genelec in my home system in the next couple years.
I have always wanted to pop in for a listen. Like you, I am not looking to buy at the moment, having two 8341s, a sub and two 8010s as surrounds, in a relatively small room. But the chance to hear the range - ooooo!!!! Glad to hear that its a great setup with a great host. Must go!!! Thanks for your post.
