New Fiio Jade Audio Level 1 TPA3255 amplifier with DAC, PEQ, sub-out, BT 6.0 LDAC

I may have expressed myself poorly... I am Franco-Brazilian) What I mean is: that it is just another TPA325X amp, nothing extraordinary.
How many of those other amps have 31 band PEQ, let alone at this price??

That's a valid point; I imagine the PEQ is handled by the Bluetrum BT8961 chip? Note that PEQ is only supported via the digital inputs (Coax/BT and USB).

For those who are rushing in too quickly: I would like to point out that on the Fiio BR13 the PEQ works very poorly, it is a bug acknowledged by Fiio regarding the saving of PEQ settings... Audiophonics is aware of it as well. I hope that won't be the case with this new Fiio product.

Let's just wait and see what the actual measurements look like.
There aren't even any datasheets—let alone measurement data—available for those cheap all-in-one ICs that combine Bluetooth, USB, DSP, and so on. These components can completely cripple a good amplifier and ruin its measured performance.
Just take a look at Amir's review of the SMSL A50 Pro; it uses one of those cheap chips, too.

Finally found measurements ) And amigos there is no PFFB inside. Read this and you will understand. In fact

"One notable omission in the app-based feature set is PFFB which some competing TPA3255 implementations use to smooth frequency response variations across different speaker impedances. The Level 1’s PEQ is a powerful correction tool, but PFFB would have been a meaningful hardware-level addition for users with speakers of varying or complex impedance curves. It is a considered omission at this price rather than a failure, and the PEQ largely compensates in practice."

Fiio is happy to compensate for PFFB with software emulation...Measurements show the result.

Check now the other attached measurements. Nothing spectacular here.

That power plane is pretty hefty, wonder why they left it uncoated.|
Interesting amp and choice of design.
 
I don't understand why TPA3255 integrators keep quoting the chip's theoretical 300W+300W max output numbers when that's a complete fantasy on a 240W PSU.
You can hit those numbers on peaks with ~300W range PSUs, but sustained test tones yeah different story. Thermally as well.

Heat? I run 200W 8 ohm towers and struggle to make my dual 3255 amp get warm playing loud, let alone too hot to touch, would need to play bass heavy tunes for a damn long time to do much as you need to absolutely beat on it to even get hot.
Test tones would be a different story. It has 1kg of mass, which is plenty for peaks.

Interesting review, thanks for sharing. I'm not an early adopter as I don't have too much disposable income for these kind of things but this review makes me want to get one. I'll hold off until there are more reviews though. Especially since I'm also hoping to see the O-noorus D4 pro getting a well deserved review soon.

Good point, lot in similar for core design, but lot of the smaller SMDs are in different positions due to layout. Clear-sealed power plane is a really cool touch.
Do love the design of it too and function vs price vs performance is good, especially for bookshelf/less load dependent applications. Good review!
 
I may have this wrong but the DAC cannot receive DSD via USB?
 
I am surprised this amp omits an optical input to play audio from a TV and disappointed that Parametric EQ cannot be applied to the Line input.

I appreciate FiiO bestowing the aesthetic of side panels made of wood.
 
Does anyone see any issue with using the line in to the Level 1 so to use it as a Power Amp?
 
Absolutely not, and line out performance is really good.
But no PEQ on line in right, (not that I use PEQ on my existing Fiio DAC)

I don't see why it is so important to have a built-in PEQ in an amplifier...
... nowadays, most users rely on digital playback via a PC and a media player application.

Simply use MusicBee—a media player—along with the ReaEQ plugin (a PEQ); both are free, and you'll have everything you need ;)

A quick session using REW and a calibrated microphone will allow you to achieve excellent results with your speakers in your listening room.

In short, a Topping M300 amplifier and a Topping E50II DAC even paired with basic ELAC Debut 3.0 DB63 speakers would make for a very impressive setup for under €1,000 :cool:

You'll find that a subwoofer is rarely necessary—especially if the room itself doesn't support deep bass reproduction—and excessive power is even less needed:

it will only cause your amplifier to run hotter and, more importantly, increase distortion levels :(

Thanks for the advice. I already use MusicBee but I always used the equalizer that came with it. Once I make a choice about which power amp I buy, I'll have to look into this.
What's REW and are these calibrated mics affordable?
