Just came across this….. interestingly looks like small footprint streamer, DAC, probably AV processor pre-amp and small Class D amplifier!

Looks more like an analog preamp
Seems like you are right, I found some year old thread which mentioned these 4 components.
Appears like these were originally planned to be released in 2025 but now making a but late appearance.

Form factor looks quite similar to the Schiit Gjallarhorn / Saga 2 / Mimir products... And with cross-product implementation of both balanced and RCA inputs.

Will be interesting to see how well these are built, and how they measure.

Probably a good step for Emotiva, but they are facing some stiff category competition from others we know here...

Product Overview

Little amp that could... and does. Repeatedly.

The DRA-1 Differential Reference® Amplifier wakes your speakers with clean vocals, tight bass, and smooth sound at any volume. Built into a compact chassis that stacks to keep your system small, its Hypex NCOREx solution is transparent and efficient, with high-current for power delivery without glare. You get 100 watts x 2 at 8 ohms or 130 watts x 2 at 4 ohms. Bridge both channels into one for 400 watts at 4 ohms. Noise and distortion sit far below the music: signal-to-noise ratio over 115 dB and total harmonic distortion plus noise and low kevels is 0.0008%.

The clash of the titans:

Will Hypex NCoreX finally push Emotiva to having an execellent measuring amp?

Or will Emotive drag Hypex down to finally having an NCoreX module measure poorly?

Of course Emotiva wires the speaker outputs next to the power wires when the whole other side of the chassis is available…

Cute little case/form factor. Price seems considerably higher than others offering finished Hypex amps (Buckeye, for instance).

Emotiva normally would have 10% off (for new customers at least), which brings this one to 720$ ish which isn't bad.
It has both RCA & XLR inputs with ability to sum up to mono mode. triggered input/output and a more than decent case. I will have to admit that I have always find Emotiva case/chassis study and decent looking.
If they would have priced it around 700$ then it might have become excellent option for US customers, provided the performance comparable to other similar offerings.

I wonder why it's derated so much, maybe to satisfy FTC rulings?

The power line cables are routed up along the side and zip tied while speaker output wires are tied on bottom plate with gap to other cables.
Emotiva aren’t suspecting any issues at all.

Interesting solution, especially for a desktop. Surprised they don't offer a preamp version with the dac.

I like that they have an all in one package for seperates. Takes the confusion out of a first seperates system. I am interested in this and will be following it for a bit.

Hello everyone, I've been looking for a pre amp so I will look forward to the review of this one.

I recently bought the Topping D70 pro Octo Dac and love it. (Clarity!) It replaced and surpassed my updated Bifrost 2 at half the price. I've been tempted by the Topping pre9o pre amp but the complaints on the remote and it not having triggers has kept me looking around. Right now my pre is the Emotiva Bas x pt 100. I run 2 subs out of it into LFE and control my floor standers with the Schiit Lokius EQ. Thoughts on Emotiva or any other suggestions would be appreciated. My original goal on a new pre amp was to switch to XLR on my equipment. Right now I use RCA...would I hear a difference?....thanks

If your coax rca cable is picking up interference, then a balanced xlr should be cleaner. Otherwise, you may get a slight SPL boost due to nature of running a balanced cable vs an rca coax (similar to the idea that using a y splitter and plugging into both L/R rca inputs on many Subs will increase signal strength and boost SPL).
