New Dutch&Dutch loudspeakers.

Sorry. I misread your statement. The only wireless RC with a rotary VC that I can recall was the Hafler of sainted memory.
The Quad 66 preamp had nice controls on the remote.
I so wish I had bought one back in the day.
There has been nothing as good since IMO and the Devialet amps are the nearest and suit me fine but it does rule out the D&D as a viable choice.

@MattHooper had a IR remote volume knob custom made from someone in EU. No idea what sort of remotes D&D have, IR seems to be falling out of fashion, but maybe they can be done. I built my own BT one, but it is not meant to communicate directly with commercial components. Would never go back to buttons either, let alone apps.

There is also the Steinway Lyngdorf remote. It is probably not cheap.

Yes, I used one at a demo of the room perfect system at the local(ish) dealer. It is just what a remote should be, IMO, but again dedicated to their systems and their preamp only has ethernet outputs for linking to other parts of their system which I guess won't be universal.
Luckily I enjoy music daily on my Devialet so I may be missing out on state of the art D&D speakers but not on musical enjoyment...

If a preamp exists with a remote control that isn’t a plastic pos and does have a rotary volume control on it let me know. That will be the right functionality.
I haven’t found one yet so I stick to my Devialet.

Roon has several, can run analogue sources through it as well

?! I couldn't find a single Roon preamp, of the roon-ready ones none I have seen has a rotary volume control on the remote but anyway roon was useless for classical music when I tried it so I didn't continue after the trial - one of the reasons I have mainly gone back to CD and LP, though I am checking out the new Apple Classical app which is promising.

Nothing there to suit me.

Roon was poor for classical music, as was Sooloos before it, and if I do bother to go back to file based music it may be using the Apple Classical app, which looks non-rubbish.

OTOH I still prefer my HiFi to not need any sort of computer interface in it, I have been a computer user since 1970 and CD player and record player work fine without the frustration and irritation I get from modern connected stuff.

If you tested it some time ago you should redo the test.
Not too long ago Roon improved their system a lot to better fit the needs of classical listeners.
Thanks for the suggestion but having a plethora of different services with reasonably frequent updates is one of the reasons I gave up on streaming!
My son has a family Apple subscription for his family and put me on as 6th family member so I could try Apple Classical. I have about 7000 CDs and LPs and it is fairly rare I want to listen to something I don’t have.

I have a Sooloos Control 15 I haven’t used in ages and a lovely looking but obtuse to use NVA PC based streamer, I forget the name of the software.
I have had a Roon trial, Pure vinyl, Amarra and several others all of which have kept pointlessly changing over the years whereas my CDs can still be found where I file them since before file based music was invented.

Before I retired I was travelling for work all the time and a file based music system was a boon, I just put classical works in playlists, but now I have retired I have stopped bothering.

With my Devialet I have a flexible phono stage, enough digital and analogue inputs and a remote control with a rotary volume control so I am ergonomically satisfied.

I would like to try the D&D but know from experience of the excellent Phantoms I wouldn’t use them because of the human interface being a grumpy old bloke with Asperger’s.

Latest July/Aug 2024 issue of The Absolute Sound did a big glowing review of the D&D 8c with the u-BACCH crosstalk cancellation software package.
Andrew Quint loved them.
Just an FYI

I suppose he didn’t let slip when they would be ready?

Me ? Is there a problem with 8c availability?
I didn't read anything in the article that I remember, but I'll review it again for ya.

Sorry Sal I meant the new small ones, Trevor Butler in his review of the 8Cs let the cat out of the bag I just thought …

Any news to spread on the Baby-Dutch?

I haven’t heard anything and not allowed to talk about them even if I had!

Thank you very much. I would really appreciate more transparency at this point. Other manufacturers are more generous in sharing information (for example Ascilab or Sigberg Audio) on the development of new speakers.
At least they could share a date when more information will be available.
