New Dutch&Dutch loudspeakers.

I realise they are not inexpensive, remember though a pair of 8Cs and I presume 6Cs will be a system within themselves, just add Roon or Spotify Connect and that’s it.
Keith
Therein lies the reason I haven't bought 8Cs from you.
Everything about them appeals, pistonic drivers, clever engineering but I want to play CDs, LPs and classical music and have a rotary volume control so without that capability they have not been an option which I am genuinely disappointed and sad about.

I wonder if the 6c will be D&D’s equivalent of the Kii 7. So more focus on smart features, more lifestyle.

They almost reach the ceiling in some older houses.
Could be the least of our concerns. Pretty confident that these ones won't be "every pocket"...

They are Roon and Spotify connect ‘ready’ so if you are digital only, and they do have one XLR connector which can be either digital or analogue.
But for multiple sources it is probably simpler just to use them with a traditional preamp or dac/preamp.
A dedicated ‘box‘ is in development but when it actually appears…

I know but neither Roon nor Spotify are convenient for classical music, it is quicker to rifle through the CDs on my rack!
I'll see when a dedicated box appears but at my age changing anything seems a bit bonkers.

But don't you already have a preamp in your current system? Run XLR from that to the D&D, and you're up and running with your CDs and LPs?

Not normally. I use a Devialet amp because it works perfectly for me and has a rotary volume control - I detest up/down buttons.
I do have a Parasound P7 preamp lurking somewhere which I used for cinema before I used room correction but it isn't as ergonomic as the Devialet.

Right. But if you are to move to active speakers, you no longer need a power amp (or integrated amp). Rather, a preamp would make more sense. That is not specific to D&D, but active speakers in general. Lots of traditional preamps with rotary volume controls out there. :)

You can of course just connect the AES output of your CD player to the 8Cs and control volume with their ‘ascend’ app but no rotary knob!
I use the Eversolo A-8 with multiple sources, it has a totally analogue preamp and tons of connectivity , sounds completely transparent to me and not ridiculously expensive.

Indeed but the only one that appeals is the Kii wired controller.

I do use active speakers for centre and rear on the few occasions I watch a film with one devialet input configured with a straight through fixed gain amp for front channels, but back to up/down buttons again though films require few adjustments compared to the wide variety of levels on music recordings IME.

Martijn hasn’t really settled on a name for the new speakers so any thoughts?
For those of you old enough…

Ah, so you want a REMOTE with a rotary knob?

Pre Thunderbirds!
Re the Kii ‘control’ that has to be wired so that garnered a few number of complaints .

Of course!
Not much point in having lovely preamp controls then using a grotty remote with gash controls IMHO

It is an industry wide problem few have addressed. And putting the grotty remote in a heavy machined box to make it seem good is even worse.

I assume you have some version of the Devialet Expert Pro? It appears that it can actually be configured to have RCA preouts, so in theory you could use those to connect to active speakers and still control the volume from the Devialet.

I think he said a pair although now I am not sure, and you get Martijn ( and several of his colleagues) to install them for you.

Even if you life in Japan for example? That makes them extremely expensive probably. 50k minimal?
