New Collaboration with Ascilab!

Who is it making claims of bias or conflicts, is it those other sources we pay no attention to now that ASR and Erin have established themselves as the go to reference for measurement accuracy and at least on par with the others for subjective evaluations.

My take on this new venture is price, price, price. If I have to pay a 20% or more premium over direct sales I will not be happy. Efficient service responses and extended warranty may skew the value impression.

As it now stands the C6B pair will approach $2700 CAD, far from inexpensive for a 2 way bookshelf vs. the duty/tariff free NA sourced products available.

It is a wait and see proposition.

I think this is great news @amirm. I'm looking forward to a larger model capable of low distortion at higher SPL. I have a feeling, and hope, there will be active versions on the roadmap too.

There is nothing like that in the cards. Their pricing is one of their key value propositions. As I said, it is my goal to keep pricing the same.

At the same time, I hope things like fast delivery, local support and warranty/repairs is of *some* value to customers. I know it would be to me. I just bought an AC for our camper van. Amazon had it for $1,600 and company itself, $1450 or something like it. I chose Amazon for piece of mind and paid the little extra. You all have to tell me if you don't value this at all.

If we can provide all of the above values while keeping the price the same, we will do so. We are going to run this operation on super thin margins and highest levels of efficiency. Pretty sure no current US audio entity would be able to match us in this regard. Beyond this, I don't know what else to tell you.
Still, you need to add "Barrowmaster" to your ID. ;)

Canada is included but how your question is handled, is yet to be figured out. It partially depends on how much tariff we will be charged when importing into US. What duty do you have to pay currently for audio products imported from US?
It's exciting to have a well reviewed product come on to the North American market. Congratulations! Applicable duties for products coming into Canada will be based on the country of origin (South Korea), the type of product as well as Canada's goods and services tax (GST). Loudspeakers fall under Chapter 85 of the Harmonized System code; specifically 8518. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2022/01-99/ch85-2022-1-eng.pdf

I assume speakers would fall under computers, as the Canadian website for duty does not have section for loud speaker. TV and camera gets different duty (5 and 6%) while computer gets 0. I do recalled getting hit by high brokerage as well when getting a Geshelli a few years back, though that was shipped by UPS (fought with them for a few days to cleared that out)
Regardless I guess we will know once everything is set up, happy to see them!

Thank you! It says there is no duty which is great.

To show my continued appreciation (I purchased KEF R3 based on the ASR review), I have made another upgrade/donation to the Forum.

Now, a non secuitur; I appreciate the fact that “political” content is not allowed. There are a plethora of sites that not only allow, but foment political debate - to a wearying end! ASR simply does not need that conversation.

My interest in the debate concerning such esoterica as massless force field tweeters, dynamic versus electrostatic drivers etc, etc ad infititum provide endless entertainment and joy to my life, absent the consternation of political battles!

Keep the helm steady in the political gale - NO POLITICS!

TillmanI purchased KEF R3 based on the ASR review. So did I.

Speaking of conflict of interest - how many "nay sayers" would give a headless panther to stuff their own company distributes? Amir does.
Yes, I think Amir has shown integrity when there is some conflict of interest already.

I can see why there would be more concern when he's specifically working with a single small brand with a more direct interest in that brand succeeding. Frankly, I also want that brand to succeed, but that's not really the point.

As I and others have mentioned, publishing hard data still makes reviews useful even if you assume all commentary is compromised and biased. For anyone with the ability to read them, graphs >>> panthers.

If @amirm wants to go a step further and block more accusations of bias, it occurred to me that he could publish an "algorithm" of how he chooses speakers to review, and when. This would take care of the objection that he may publish objective data, but favors / disfavors speakers based on what he chooses to review.

It's often said and even acknowledged that less credible reviewers don't publish bad reviews. It's often assumed that this is to maintain profitable conflicts of interest with advertisers, etc.

So if Amir really feels like it he could go a step further than publishing the data, and publish / follow objective criteria for conducting a review. Maybe the age, price, market share, or date speaker was submitted could determine the queue, or something.

Just a thought, not even a request here. Personally I am fine with this announcement and status quo otherwise, but I can understand other points of view here.

Since you already own a custom integration business and an official dealer of many brands, you should of long badged yourself as an industry insider and a dealer (don't remember if there is a dealer badge)

While this thread announcement is a great sign of transparency, but I do believe at this point, you should badge yourself with no delay.

Great. A chance to distribute a good product and maybe make some money. I think it would be appropriate to make this clear, especially in speaker reviews.
