New Collaboration with Ascilab!

Could this perhaps also mean that you may get involved in future speaker developments with them? Is that something you might be interested in?
The relationship allows us to be involved in the design cycle of the future models. This would be more on the side of evaluation/testing/market feedback than design. They know a lot more about design than I do. :)

I initially wondered if these news were good or bad :
this is really a bold move on your side as, from now on, ASR will always be accused of being partial to Ascilab.

This will not be an issue for ASR loyal readers like me. Most will even see it as one more testimony of your dedication to the widespread knowledge and distribution of meriting audio products.

However I suspect that, while someone asked if Erin would still get access to these speakers, he might actually become their primary reviewer...

Anyway, kudos for taking this risk for the benefit of North American customers !

But it would be pretty hard to be partial to Ascilab if you're just going off the measurements, and if Erin does measure a copy of the same speaker then you can always compare the ASR measurements vs the Erin measurements as a double check that the measurements are still kosher. I mean there's probably an element of unit to unit variation with speakers but they should be pretty close. I suppose Ascilab get a subconscious boost to their brand image amoung ASR readers because of the affiliation but even that is debateable, but the measurements speak for themselves.

Completely transparent loudspeaker manufacturer and completely transparent forum…

Hi @amirm,

You always mention when you test products that your company offers.
And I noticed that it happend more than once that results have not been stellar...

So I have absolutely no doubt that this new collaboration with ASCI Labs will not interfere with your judgement and the way you're testing products and comment on them.

But anyways, thanks a lot for the transparency. It is something I highly appreciate... like many others probably

Congrats to both!

Congratulations, @amirm and @AsciLab . This sounds like a great synergistic relationship. I am looking forward to see some beefy floorstanders from Ascilab to compliment my collection of vintage japanese receivers and modern chinese technology.

While the subjective listening portion could become inherently biased, that’s what the measurements are for (and the amount of people who want a neutral/transparent speaker but don’t believe in a relation between measurements and listening impressions is likely not a large subset).

This is great news for Ascilab and I wish everyone involved great luck on this!

I know that this is a bit of a conflict and there will be naysayers, but as long as you keep publishing consistent data, as always we can tell the doubters to ignore the editorial and judge the measurements for themselves. Verifiable objective info is a good patch for conflict of interest, so this news is more encouraging and less concerning than it would be from 99%+ of reviewers.

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to announce an important collaboration with Ascilab. As many of you know, Ascilab has delivered an incredible range of speakers that embody the best in engineering and science — all at amazingly affordable prices. Even better, the company actively listens to ASR member input and feedback.

One challenge remains: Ascilab is based in South Korea, which makes shipping to other countries expensive and logistically complicated. To address this, Ascilab recently partnered with Audiophonics in the EU — an excellent choice — and continues to work with Purité Audio in the UK, another great partner.

Today, I’m announcing that we will be taking on exclusive distribution and marketing of Ascilab products in North America!

We will be setting up a new company to handle this, which my brother will run. He brings over 40 years of experience in audio retail and service/repair. I will support the venture through funding and marketing, while he will manage day-to-day operations.

Due to long lead time and shipping, it will be a couple of months before we are up and running.

Please note: the ASR mission remains unchanged. I will continue to judge every product impartially, regardless of whether it’s sold by our new company.

This was not an easy decision, as audio distribution comes with many risks. However, I believe this is a unique opportunity to increase the availability of well-engineered products and make it easier for people in North America to purchase them.

I hope I can count on your support to make this new venture successful — it’s a positive outcome for all of us.

Thank you!

P.S. Here are my reviews of two of their models if you have not seen them yet:

F6B passive radiator bookshelf: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...s/ascilab-f6b-bookshelf-speaker-review.63387/
I really, really, hope that you can remain truly impartial. It is what we prize most of all about this place.

Bias is human and unavoidable. It's how you manage it.

Hope these means we get "End game" level speakers (like Revel F328be or Kh420 level) produced and verified :) unlike Magico, YG, Wilson, etc.

Congrats to both parties!

And I hope this doesn't mean Erin is shut off from reviewing the products.
I think Erin should get the exclusive review of Ascilab products. That way transparency is assured and I think most of us here trust his data.

Congratulations @amirm on the partnership. That’s fantastic news for all involved and not least the US customer base.
