New Collaboration with Ascilab!

You are free to use any microphone you like. It accepts a calibration file for it. I did buy the Gefell but you don't have to.
I think you can safely discard the battering ram now haha. Across multiple measurements on spinorama.org, I see some consistent post 16khz dip on ASR. Maybe it’s time to recalibrate the mic too. But no pressure, I’m just taking my chance to make this comment.

Wow… this is honestly one of the most delightful surprises I’ve had all year.

Since I’m geographically close to AsciLab and have a personal relationship with them, I’ve always been a bit hesitant to post too actively as a speaker reviewer.
That’s why it means so much to me personally to see a trustworthy third party like you introducing a new South Korean speaker brand to the wider world.

Wishing you all the best going forward!

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to announce an important collaboration with Ascilab. As many of you know, Ascilab has delivered an incredible range of speakers that embody the best in engineering and science — all at amazingly affordable prices. Even better, the company actively listens to ASR member input and feedback.

One challenge remains: Ascilab is based in South Korea, which makes shipping to other countries expensive and logistically complicated. To address this, Ascilab recently partnered with Audiophonics in the EU — an excellent choice — and continues to work with Purité Audio in the UK, another great partner.

Today, I’m announcing that we will be taking on exclusive distribution and marketing of Ascilab products in North America!

We will be setting up a new company to handle this, which my brother will run. He brings over 40 years of experience in audio retail and service/repair. I will support the venture through funding and marketing, while he will manage day-to-day operations.

Due to long lead time and shipping, it will be a couple of months before we are up and running.

Please note: the ASR mission remains unchanged. I will continue to judge every product impartially, regardless of whether it’s sold by our new company.

This was not an easy decision, as audio distribution comes with many risks. However, I believe this is a unique opportunity to increase the availability of well-engineered products and make it easier for people in North America to purchase them.

I hope I can count on your support to make this new venture successful — it’s a positive outcome for all of us.

Thank you!

P.S. Here are my reviews of two of their models if you have not seen them yet:

Come on!!!! ASR for the win. That’s great news. Congrats and good luck.

Extremely interesting news. A perfect match, too. All the best for this endeavour.
It will be fun to watch what Ascilab‘s impact on the competitors will be (like even Kii and D&D when the full roadmap becomes reality). Also, all the self-declared YT audio experts were hyping one "giant killer" after the other in the past. Wonder if they will miss this real one.

Phooey!!! You beat me to it… I was thinking of investing with a (much) younger partner here in Florida.

Ah well… great minds :-)

Congratulations! And if you want dealers, please let me know!

Now that I think about it, how do I order the F6B from the new company? I would love to be your first sale!!

It’s great to see a young, little known audio company with great products grow up and succeed, especially if it can leverage the network of ASR friendly resources.

Sure there is a bit of a conflict of interest here, but @amirm has another company as well, from which he occasionally feature speakers in reviews, and generally, he’s a bit more cautious with this opinions in these. So I don’t think it’s a big deal. We can see the data, and that is all that’s important, contrary to most other reviews sites. As long as the promotion stays in the confines of review, all is good.

Btw, should this not be in the dealers section?
Btw2, you can be assured that this news will be readily picked up by the other outlets to show that ASR is not at all impartial, objective and independent. Let’s continue to show them they are wrong.
Btw3, in light of the above, @amirm, please clarify the “we” in your post. It’s sort of ambiguous, and it should be clear that “we”, is you and your brother, not ASR or your other company.

Thank you. Once the store is set up, I will reach out to you before announcing it publicly. :)

I can’t think of a higher commendation, Changyeul, Jinsung, and Amir I wish you all every success.
A great brand deserves first rate distribution.

To show my continued appreciation (I purchased KEF R3 based on the ASR review), I have made another upgrade/donation to the Forum.

Now, a non secuitur; I appreciate the fact that “political” content is not allowed. There are a plethora of sites that not only allow, but foment political debate - to a wearying end! ASR simply does not need that conversation.

My interest in the debate concerning such esoterica as massless force field tweeters, dynamic versus electrostatic drivers etc, etc ad infititum provide endless entertainment and joy to my life, absent the consternation of political battles!

Keep the helm steady in the political gale - NO POLITICS!

I'm curious, since NA was mentioned, is Canada included too? If so, how will custom be handled?

Canada is included but how your question is handled, is yet to be figured out. It partially depends on how much tariff we will be charged when importing into US. What duty do you have to pay currently for audio products imported from US?

Wow, that's really news, good luck to you and your brother!

What I personally find most interesting about this is that it is another indicator of how good and special these speakers must actually be that you are taking this step!:)

Could this perhaps also mean that you may get involved in future speaker developments with them? Is that something you might be interested in?

Yes, congratulations @amirm , there's nothing wrong with facilitating and earning some potential money from bringing good audio to people in your USA! You've measured other speakers that were affiliated with one of your existing companies so it's not really like it's something new. The measurements speak for themselves so there's not much scope for conflict of interest because the measurements are what they are regardless!
