New Buckeye Measurements

So does this means Buckeye are better?
They measure better than most for that one IMD test. If you meant to ask if the Buckeye amp, as a whole, measures better than the AHB2, you'll have to compare the Stereophile specs. If you meant to ask if it was a better amp than the AHB2, that's a hard one to answer, since it depends on what you mean by better.

This story would not happen if there was a proper quality control testing at both the module manufacturer and OEM assembler.

Are you sure about that? Benchmark AHB2 (LEFT) and Buckeye Purifi 9040BA (RIGHT) ...courtesy of Stereophile magazine
Like many here, I suspect, I was secretly hoping that JA's new 9040 measurements might prove to be the best ever. I think the reality is that there was nothing there to put you off buying the Buckeye, and considering the quality and price of the competition (Bryston, Moon, Linn, Boulder etc) it's a remarkable achievement.
However I thought the Benchmark still carried sway because the THDN vs power and THDN vs Freq charts were about 10dB better across the board.
But as I say, nothing to put me off getting the Buckeye, especially with the Micro Audio PSU.

Hypex SMPS1200A180

So it would have bit more power into 2 ohms with the Micro Audio option SMPS?

True, but do you really expect Buckeye to (re)test every module he gets from Purifi? At some point it's reasonable for him to assume Purifi has an effective quality control process in place.

Instead of buying 2 of these are you able to put both of them in a single 17 inch chassis?

By any chance are you able to get a more sensitive gain stage than what you offer on your website? Something that would work better with 1 to 2 volts

At this time, no plans for a dual mono design. Maybe a next year wish list.

And also no higher gain stage in the works at the moment, either.

It was also my hope to get a dual mono design to fit in standard rack space.

Frankly, yes, I would expect it. It is a good practice. Based on my own experience, I know it can be done even in a small lot production. If I did not know, I would not comment.

If I was merely dealing with "small lots" of modules, it would be easy to QC test every single one via measurements of course. But that is not the case.

We live and we learn, though. So I am highly confident an issue like this will not happen again.

Apollon and Nord offer 17" dual mono amps, but only with SMPS1200A180 PSUs.
Buckeye and March are mono only, but are both available with custom supplies.
It would be good if two mono amps would fit inside 17", but they're all 9 or 10 inches wide each.

Nord does offer dual mono Hypex NCx500 and NC1200 based power amps with the higher capacity Hypex SMPS1200A700 power supplies for each channel. I have their 3 channel version for my LCR channels driving L&R Electrostatics from Martin Logan digging deep into 2 Ohm. Endless power, pristine sound; the best sound I've had in my system, which includes an Anthem AVM 90 preamp / processor.

I have the "standard" amp, without any "OP Amp" module. Don't need that.

The clarity and power of any of the larger Class D amps (Hypex NCx500 or Purify) was an eye opening experience for me, coming from an Aragon 8008BB 400w/ch @ 4 Ohm 79lb class A/AB amp, which I loved but ultimately could not match the incredibly low distortion of the Hypex NCx500.

I'm in my early 60's, doing this for a long time.
