I would much rather pay much more than to have CRAP that breaks frequently.
That is exactly why I will never buy "CHEAP". It's stressful when you are just trying to relax and gear just quits. It's time consuming and a hassle to deal with replacing it.
If it's going to be that way, I would just rather not have it.
Quality will always cost more up front.
But not having "CHEAP" for gear gives benefits for years and years, as the average cost of the gear goes down every day it keeps working.
People have too much stress in their lives (and many die from it).
Yep, I paid more (and the amortized price is really, really inexpensive per day of use. Continuously wasting time [my time is worth $50 an hour for me to do the work that I do for others]), replacing constantly breaking items is not worth my time or the stress it causes. Plus, better gear, can (for the most part), be easily repaired.
I typically have multiple duplicates of of every piece in my system (actually of most things in my life, if I buy something and I really like it, I buy another one so that I can just swap it out when [more likely IF {because I typically buy quality and reliability, there by paying more up front} it goes down). Because, unfortunatel, realy good stuff has a tendency to no longer be available later down the line. Same with shoes, pants, shirts, cooking gear, etc, etc.
It's very rare for me to not be able to just swap to a working unit of something when an item quits working.
Then I can repair or replace the defective one on MY schedule.
I don't have much (and I don't buy to show off for others that I have the latest, greatest things, or buy into trends), so I am NOT one of the Jones'es that people are looking up to when they are tryng to keep up with the Jones'es.
Just a steady state guy with gear that rarely breaks. Not the latest bling, but stuff that lasts and lasts.
