New Barefoot Footprint03 studio monitors

Does anyone understand what this SPOC thing is?

I'll see myself out...

Maybe a daft question, but why overcomplicate things? I'm suspicious of mental cone drovers anyway because of out-of-band behaviour, but analogue crossovers (active or passive?) before A-D? I need to get my head round the concept, sorry...

With my now shit hearing the way it is, the idea of a mid driver hopefully helping lower kHz dispersion/directivity does appeal, as long as the blending with the bass diver in the lower midrange is clean (always a compromise).

Only because they're a 3-way instead of a 2-way like KH150?
I'll have to see how they measure on here before deciding anything. Various 3 ways seem to be a go-to for several of the producers I respect.

I currently use kali in8s and they are solid sounding monitors, but I'm looking for a little more performance for the studio sessions when I'm working with other producers and not using headphones.

Must say for approximately 2k pair price it is an interesting option as most other 3-ways belong to the quite cheaper class like Kali, KRK and Swisssonic or rather double expensive like Genelec and Neumann, hopefully ASR, EAC or S&R will measure them thoroughly soon.

It kind of reminds me of this Amphion
But price difference is huge lol

They share very little in common! The One25 is a sealed box with a way bigger woofer and much more LFX.

So a contendant for the category of Adam Audio A8H , Eve Audio Sc 3070 , Event 2030, Fostex Pm 841, Hedd Audio Type 20, Prodipe Pro 8 3w

Add Dynaudio LYD 48, among the cheapest

Why not use a digital crossover ?
Nothing too fancy. But very good idea.

The idea is pretty simple: in typical music, HF level is much lower level than LF (most energy is in Bass in modern music). Use a analog crossover before DA is a clever way to optimize gain structure, preserving dynamic range in HF signal. ie. lower noise level without too expensive AD/DA system.

The drawback is you might limit max HF level when there's a peak transient in HF signals.

In more budget level monitors, especially DSP monitors, HF hissing is an issue. Because the material budget can't afford high-end DA/AD in the speaker box.

Purist will argue why not build a full high-quality analog speaker and avoid noisy AD/DA stuff? That's another topic..

I'll say 15db gain is a bit optimistic, but not too far away. in EDM music, I think a 10db gain in HF SNR is easy. A safer bet is IEC 268-5 spectrum.

Because of this SPOС, it is impossible to avoid double conversion and use a digital input or build in an audio interface (USB is already available for service needs). This situation is nonsense in our time, since we have not used analog recording media for a long time, such as magnetic tape, for example. IMHO.

Is there any measurement available for these yet? I was going to buy the Adam A8H, but I discovered this new Barefoot model. I have no way to listen to them, and I couldn't find any measurements—only YouTubers praising them because they got them for free.

there's a new version called Footprint03C, supposed to be center channel in multichannel configuration, but to me they just looks better and I would prefer a pair of 03C instead of 03 for a 600€ premium per speaker
