New Barefoot Footprint03 studio monitors

How is that a problem?
Wondering this too. Subs are, to put it lightly, kind of a giant pain in the ass to integrate - brand doesn't matter. I'd rather do it with an external DSP crossover, it's way more configurable. And honestly, the better non-studio subs (SVS, Rythmik, Hsu, etc etc) are going to be a better value anyway.

Slightly different perspective. I have the MM12s and absolutely love the sound. A friend has the 01s and I really enjoy the sound there as well. This seems to be a surprisingly reasonable entry into the Barefoot lineup, and I'd be interested in hearing how they sound.

That said, reliability has been an issue with the MM12. And turnaround time for repair has been pretty underwhelming.

In comparing ATCs (SCM-10A, SCM7, SCM-150A), Genelecs (8331) and the MM12s, only the 150s were in the same ballpark IMO. Not sure what they do technically that works so well, but they sure produce what my ears like to hear.

@amirm Bossman, you had some contact with Barefoot at one point, right? Any chance you could get one of these to test?

Not sure. They were supposed to follow up with me on future designs but I never heard back from them.

https://gearspace.com/board/new-pro...unveils-footprint03-3-way-studio-monitor.html Some answers from barefoot re: design choices here.

First: Port is designed to be a low Q design, aiming for less ring over more extension.

Second: side firing port design was to enable a longer, wider port, and for any leakage (which should supposedly be minimal, since like Neumann they are aiming for relatively inefficient but low noise ports) to cause less interference.

Anybody got ideas on what the drivers are? I can't make out what's what and I've never seen a woofer basket quite like that...
The basket has been used by many Airborne and Bold North woofers. But I feel that Barefoot woofer seems to be a custom one.

These are fighting Dynaudio LYD48... In theory also Adam A8 but those are 400euro more expensive. I wonder how the compare

I expect we’ll soon see these monitors appearing in the carefully lit background of “influential“ YouTubers pontificating about their sound and build, I‘ll await the reviews and measurements before I’ll pass judgment, I do admire their dinky size though

When I was looking at buying new monitors/sub 3 years ago I considered the Barefoot Footprint 02 but I noticed that there was a lot of “fluff” online presence from artists who were singing their praises which led me to believe they must have a very good marketing and publicity budget, this put me off from buying or auditioning them, I never hear about them now so I guess the marketing budget has ran out.

My Dynaudio may not be exciting and edgy but they’ve proven to be very dependable as they have been used from 10am through to 2am every single day in my setup connected to my iMac which i sit in front of for 14hrs+/day.
Not just that. A lot of product placement too.

I'll give Barefoot this, their cabinetry is quite good.

Their MasterStack12 look sick
Compared to Hedd's Tower Mains... I think Hedd looks better. But I am curious about these 03 because I was thinking of having a 3 way pair this year and Barefoot card wasn't in my options until now :)

Will await some real measurements, because I don't think I'll be able to listen to them

The price on these is great! If they measure well compared to Neumann KH150's, I'll probably be getting them instead for my next studio upgrade.

Only because they're a 3-way instead of a 2-way like KH150?

They also look phenomenal. But yes, 3 ways if designed properly are pretty much always better.

I was hoping KH150 would be closer to KH310 performance but I guess the extra driver makes a big difference .

Does anyone understand what this SPOC thing is?
Why not use a digital crossover ?
