New Børresen M6 flagship speakers

I bet they're going for the ultra-thin look, and willing to compromise on practical engineering.
Side-mounted woofers would have solved the cone area+thin look issue with practically zero engineering thought required.

Kef Blade does 1590.4cm^2 in a razor thin enclosure. This does 410cm^2 lol. What a joke. Then again the people that buy these things listen to "audiophile music" which is just female singers and experimental percussion (wood blocks falling on floor, violin string plucks at 7:4 polymeter), so they will probably be content.

Current exchange rates in the USA gets you 16 Genelec 8381s for the price of 2 of these. In an 8381 thread, I made a joke about an 8381 15.4 Atmos system...o_O

BTW, current discussions in the 8381 thread are about whether they are too expensive for what you get...

I will just say that because prices on other better speakers are lower than this here monstrous cashgrab doesn't mean it's a bargain. The Genelec in question is still very very expensive.

Neither speaker is worth the money IMO. That doesn't make them equal. That just makes two too expensive speakers one more than the other.

I'm still amazed that some cars cost less than some speakers

There's also an M3 that costs €250K and has 4 X4.5 inch drivers Instead of the 6X4.5 inch of the M6 that costs €540K

Sorry, no sale.

I would be surprised if I've spent that much money, ever, for everything.

Ok, not counting beer.

I wonder who buys them and how many they sell a year

Is it perhaps a hobby for some wealthy people, making such speakers? And if they sell some it's just an unexpected bonus.

No one is going to waste time or money manufacturing something as a hobby and not expecting to sell anything

Everyone here is bashing the speaker, I also agree to some degree some none sense might be going on here and there and it is definitely not a price performance speaker but there is also a lot of solid research and innovation going on.
Please read this article (auto translated from German) https://www-lowbeats-de.translate.g...l=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=wapp
The article is from 2019 and to my knowledge the newer speakers are also another bit more advanced. So sputtering a membrane building a driver part by part with potentially better solutions is surely expensive. You might be right that some parts wouldn't make the sound better, but you also got very good reviews from a lot of people who wouldn't do a review if the speakers aren't good. Here at ASR a lot of people think they know everything better so a lot of high end speakers get bashed right away and not a single one listend or measured that speaker and draws his bashing from this. So please stop that. Being skeptical is great but you also have to give everything a fair chance otherwise you become the angry old man who yells at everything that is new.

Curiously, the bass cabinets are not of equal size, nor does the tuning seem to be the same. The ports are massive though. The mids are also open from the back.

I initially thought they might have had a woofer, maybe downfiring somehow, hiding sideways inside, but noooooooo...

Does the bottom woofer pair have two ports?

Here's a pair playing, so, I guess they work alright.

You got a point in your last sentence, which I agree with in general BUT when the price is ridiculous it deserves a bit of bashing IMO. And from your link I unfortunately stopped reading when I got to this nonsense-->

You're absolutely right.

Yup. But, not many here bash say, Magico though. Because they actually make engineering sense.

Oh, yeah of course. I think of the word "ridiculous" as in the meaning it's unreasonable.

Sure. If I pay a bunch I expect stellar performance.
