Good morning,
I would like to buy a Class D amplifier—either Purifi or Hypex.
I have a few questions:
Is there any sonic advantage to buying separate mono modules?
I’d like to buy online from the US, but the company I looked at—Buckeye—takes too long to deliver.
Do you have any recommendations for other manufacturers?
Also, is there a significant difference in sound between Purifi and Hypex?
I currently own an Arcam SA45, but I want to use a more powerful amplifier by connecting it to the Arcam's pre-out terminals.
I appreciate any comments.
Thank you.

Your Arcam is pretty powerful. Surprised that's not enough.

I am seeing a current 'build to ship' time of three to two weeks at Buckeye Amps for their 2-channel amplifiers,

Consider waiting for a Buckeye Amp.

I have 2 of these. They programmed one, the LF Adjust knob and crossover, for full range (disabled) to drive my Horizon V2 center speaker and programmed the other with a 12 dB filter beginning at 100 hz to drive two sealed 15" DIY in parallel for one channel out of a two subs L/R system. . No charge. Best bang for the buck! Their plate amps are used by many OEM sub manufacturers.

Next day shipping too.

OP wants HypeX or Purifi. Cant find anything on the Website that mentions one if the two names.

BTT: One main advantage of monoblock is reduced crosstalk between the channels. But this is already extremely low on Purifi core amps and most HypeX core amps.

And yeah, your Arcam produces 300W @ 4 Ohm...that's plenty! What are you driving with your amp?

SpeakerPower is better in all respects.

SpeakerPower is better in all respects.

Interesting, would love to see measurements.

EDIT: Oh, I already have my answer: "FREQUENCY REPSONSE 5Hz to 500Hz". The only monoblock that they are offering is a sub-only amp. So they are completely out of what OP is looking for. " Superb in all respects" does not include frequency range then I guess.

EDIT2: Okay, OP is not necessarily looking for monoblock. But still, measurements of the SpeakerPower would be interesting. I love claims that get supported by science

More powerful? Please name your speakers, room size and prefered listening level. You could be better off by using the option to add subwoofers and improve in room response.

Thanks all ..

I have two pairs of speakers:

1 pair of BW 804s - 17 years old.

1 pair of Kef R3 meta - 1 year old.

2 small subs - Cambridge x201. My room is about 70m2 (753 feet).

Those are quite different speakers. I have the same KEFs and almost the same space.. And I have 4 subwoofers. I always found the B&W to be a tad unbalanced, not neutral like the KEF, which measurements clearly also show.
I would definitely use the Arcam with all it's features, you won't get better sound with other amplifiers... I tried and even though the B&W are an annoying load, a difference in sound will be hugely different, depending on how you tune the system, acoustics and placement of speakers... And you, the listener.
Do you have any size restrictions regarding placement of both speakers and the listing position?

You already have more power than you need to get a police visit if you have a party. You are more likely to blow out your speakers if say, you go for 500W amps.

Yes there are small differences between Hypex and Purifi but you won't be able to hear a difference.

There may also be small differences between 2x mono and 1x stereo, but again, you won't hear a difference.

Adding a new power amp to the pre-out of your existing is not likely to gain anything - you are using the same DAC and pre-amp.

If you are unhappy with the sound you are hearing (from digital sources), the problem is one of or some of: speakers, position of speakers, blending of subs to mains, bad Dirac setup, or room problems.

I usually listen to my Arcam system at a volume level of 40, but I’d like to keep it at 20 or lower to avoid straining the equipment. Plus, the neighbors here would kill me if I played it too loud.
I don't really have an idea of my speakers' limits—specifically, how many decibels they can handle without risking damage to the components—so I'm curious about that.

What does 20 or 40 mean? Is that the Arcams internal volume indicator? What's full then? 100?

If so, don't worry at all. You can easily keep it at 40 without damaging the device. Those are usually designed to operate for a long time even in high output power.

So you are not in a position to push your Arcam to its power limit but came to the conclusion that you need more powerful mono amps?
Both your speakers can handle high SPL, they will enter distortion before risking any damage.
You will most likely hear that.
Did you ever measure how loud your are playing music from where you seat from your speakers?

Yeah... maybe just the curiosity to test things out and try something new... or, as we say in Brazil: looking for trouble, haha.

I understand, I have done the same.
It is just that amplifiers make so little difference, if any.
Speakers placement and how they react in the room is where the real gains are, you might have a more adventurous journey with room treatment or getting some DSP to change what you hear.
Lots of info about it on ASR and a lot of people with deep knowledge on how to go about it.

I agree with you; changing the room setup could help, but I have limitations regarding making changes.
Despite criticism from so-called "audiophiles" in Brazil who insist that using Dirac is rubbish, I used it with an SA45 and a UMIK-1 and liked it.

Some of your basic premises are wrong.
Just get bigger and better speakers.

Indeed, we have those Audiophools in Canada as well.
From my perspective, you already have all the ingredients, even with limitations on what you can do with the room, using the knowledge you can find on this forum, will still make a lot more improvement than switching electronics.
