Neumann KH120 II

Info from Neumann, I am not shure if they checked provided audio or not.

Is there a chance someone with KH 120 II will check on their pair.

Audio files:

Good and bad. The good is that's an intelligent engineering-grounded response that shows they paid attention to your problem and considered the Yamaha comparison. The bad is that they are saying you should buy their matching subwoofer (they aren't the first to say this). Then you won't be sending sub bass to these boxes that can't convert it to air waves.

You might enjoy this thread. I did. The lesson for me was, that's what it takes to make full-range monitors that can do the spec SPL. That's the best we can do. It's easier and less expensive to solve the problem with band-limited L+R and sub woofer(s).

You completely misquote me. I did not say that. I said that there is very little pop music with content below 40 Hz. That is the objective truth. It is likely that your our measurements are wrong. What are the songs? How did you measurement the content? What equipment? Give us your measurement data.

you're just wrong and I don't really see the need to prove wrong such absurd claims, everyone is welcome to do it by themselves. I had you on ignore for half a year or so, removed from it but you're going back there, sorry

What I said remain true. I am sorry it upsets you so.

Hey, I have the speakers since release and have been very happy with them. I was thinking of adding KH 750, maybe someone can give a summary of how it goes. I currently use analog signal for the speakers and would like to continue to do so for convenience of input selection & volume control from my preamplifier. The speakers are running eq profiles done with the Neumann software. What's the way to go when adding the subwoofer to the setup?

It depends on what music you listen to or work with. If that music has significant bass content below 44 Hz, the KH750 would be excellent.

Sorry, maybe I was a bit unclear. What I mean is purely on the technical setup, there's digital and analog connections on both the speakers and the sub, both have DSP and so on. So then I thought many people very likely have this setup and can give a summary of how the setup is best done (e.g. is the dsp profile only on the sub or on all of them, is it best maybe connect sub to satellites digitally etc).

Hey

Just a quick update on port noise from kh 120II.

I really like this product sonic character, except of this port noise, but decided to exchange it for another pair to see, if it is a product perk or I recived faulty one.

I am always lucky with ordering electronics, if something can go wrong, for shure it will be my order...

So we go, second pair had same port noise, but except of this, one of speaker's was whining from time to time when powered on, and second had something loose inside. This made strange rattling noise, you can hear on video.

You can hear it from 00:27.

I've returned them...

Third pair is ok, but one box came without factory seal from Neumann. Also serial numbers are very far away.

Still port noise, but without any flaws.

I contacted Neumann, and they said seal should be on the box, but there was only tape with dots.

Also, few days later, Thomann launched kh120II bundle, with free ma1 mic.
I have ordered 4th pair, and these emits strange smell of plastic getting warm/some chemicals maybe.

It fills my whole medium sized control room, and I am really pissed, about wanting this monitors and obstacles I have

4th pair still have port noise, but this toxic plastic smell getting burn/hot makes me not want to keep them.

Does anyone recognize that kind of smell from new Neumann monitors or speaker's in general?
It happens only when playing at 60 percent volume or more.

Now I can keep third pair, but one monitor came without seal, and I am not sure if is it repaired unit, also serial numbers are very far off.

I can order 5th pair, but I am bit afraid, what will come this time.
Also Thomann might be not so happy with it.20241121_145651_HDR.jpg

Please don't double post.

The setup is best done with MA 1. And it explains in the manual how corrections and crossovers are implemented for analog monitors, for the KH 80 DSP, and for the newer DSP-based monitors. In short, follow the instructions and you will get the best result.

You go digital from KH750 to both KH120ii. Then you can go analog or digital into KH750 from your source.
It really makes sense to also connect KH750 with digital connection to your system! I use my RME for studio but recently bought the WiiM preamp for my office and 2 KH120ii, there are more and more units out there for digital volume control.

They don't need to be a matched pair. Every single one is calibrated within +/-0.5dB of target.

Also - these are going to have port noise. You're playing LF loud into small speakers. The solution? Buy bigger speakers with lower tuned ports, or add a sub (or two).

I will remind everyone that the demo videos that were posted were enough to have the woofers visibly moving.
