Pc can be a major noise source, but I've ruled that out as a possible cause by hearing the same noise when the PCs off.

That's a bummer, did you try a replacement set? Or did you move on entirely?
As much as I liked the sound besides the distortion and the other problems, I didn't get a new pair since I didn't like the neumann costumer support. For now I moved on, maybe I'll get a pair of genelec, barefoot or idk what other, still choosing. I don't know if to trust neumann. I will see.

Funny you say that, cause I myself tried to contact their support to receive exactly 0 response, and 1 customer support quality survey. On the other hand I contacted buchardt about the backorder wait time and got a response from the CEO.

For me this are instruments for work, I need equipment and people that I can trust and professionals if I need help or to solve an issue. Unfortunately I didn't find any of this in my experience. When I was talking with them, for 2 times they promised to came back writing an e-mail with solutions to me in 24h, but even waiting more they never did. Very unfortunate (?).

Ah! Import fees, haven't dealt with that before. Any way to calculate what I'd pay? A quick search seems like it may be a grey area?

Here is the warranty language. Note there is a special section for Austrailia, it's probably best that you contact sennhieser AU to confirm.
It looks like for US buyers the language is country agnostic but it must be from an authorized dealer, as usual.
That said, the warranty isn't very strong to begin with. It's only 2 years, and only for manufacturer defects which always seem easy to deny if they feel like it.

If you know who the carrier would be you could provide them with the shipping box dimensions / weight and they would probably ballpark it for you. FWIW, I imported KH 150s to the US and the customs fee was under $50.

I've only imported less expensive products (~$200) from Europe and Japan and they were just delivered normally.

Keep in mind that I'm no expert at all on this, but my understanding is that as long as it's under $800 per person per day, US customs gives you a free pass. It's an informal de minimis import . Over that and under $2500 they will charge duty and a few other fees. Over $2500 and it's a formal import and gets more complex.

If anyone knows any more about this, please contribute.

Why are you importing these to the US from Europe when you can buy from US sellers?

Ok, I bought them from MusicStore the german dealer.
  • I called sennheiser USA (Neumann's parent brand) and verified that the warranty will in fact be honored, it applies internationally as long as they are an authorized dealer
  • This import calculator says there will be no fees on this product category (but I'm not sure it's correct) https://www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/
I'll report back with shipping progress and if I get charged customs on arrival.
Did I mention the MA-1 measurement mic is included for free on the holiday promo they're running? (From many dealers right now fwiw)

I decided to pay for shipping twice and got them as two separate shipments both under $800 and I'll get back when they arrive. I've got other ways of equalizing so I don't need or want the MA1

Cabinet material, Composite polycarbonate front and rear, wooden sleeve. Cabinet surface finish; color (front / back), Painted; metallic anthracite (RAL 7021)
It's still not aluminum ;)

Doesn't have to, as it's metallic anthracite. Meanwhile, in the Neumann marketing HQ, the guy that invented "metallic" anthracite:

Replacing a metal enclosure with painted plastic is likely a cost reduction to improve profit margins. That said, they measure great, so i don't think it really matters.

I didn't know MDF is a kind of plastic.
