Reckon they could do it with an updated, better 8" driver and DSP.
The question is : how much will it cost.

That is a thought. It will be fascinating to see what it is.

Purifi driver to replace the 8” woofer ? :D

Price probably will double :(

Took the plunge and bought my KH310s a couple of years ago. There was talk of the new version back then. (Class D, DSP etc.) Rather than hold out, I decided I didn't need built in DSP, didn't care about Class D, and presumed the new model would most likely be out of my budget anyway. Keen to see if this is the case.

There's also the risk of reliability of new products to consider. Realise Neumann are good re this and customer service, but they're pretty heavy and returns would definitely be a hassle.

Ditto. My set arrived from Germany in Feb 2023.

Analog was fine that’s why I went ahead with KH310A. My DSP chain lives in foobar2000.

Snap!

Got mine January 2023 and in use via Foobar too
(With MathAudio RoomEQ and EasyQ)

I like my KH310's very much. In fact they are used for the main recording console in my studio. I have KH150's/KH120II's on two other workstations. In practical terms I have no preference - although if pressed I have a slight preference for the KH150's. I wonder however, if I could tell a difference in a double blind test.

As a side note, Mitch Gallagher of Sweetwater chose KH310's over KH150's for his home studio ----- and he could have had any monitors in the universe.

Think it'll be a driver developed in-house, along the lines of the the one in the KH150. Personally I kinda hope it will be expensive enough for me to justify my purchase 2 years ago. Also curious what the current model will sell for once the new one is released... Discount etc

I hope it costs less than the older model. So I could afford it

What I observed in terms of their pricing was KH420 = 2*KH310 = 2*KH120 = 2*KH80 roughly..

But when KH150 was released the pricing pattern was blown out of the water coz KH150 pricing was not far from KH310.

Wonder if it will be 2x KH150 then...

Reckon the new woofer is of most interest to me. Assuming there is a new one... Along with the price obviously.

There's a good chance of the current model being discounted once it arrives. Could make for a very good deal. Especially if the new models price is very high in comparison.

Was considering waiting for this myself but decided it could be a long wait. Seems so, I guess.

Just glad I'm in the UK. Seems US prices are high.
And likely to get higher.

There is also the option to wait for the new model to get stellar reviews.

Wealthy folk may then be selling off their current ones at a good price so they can upgrade...

I am already wrestling with whether to purchase the new one or not.

I recently bought some KH310's and one of the appeals to me was no DSP. Since I planned on using them with multiple subs I have learned the hard way that "built in DSP" in subs can often make integration much more difficult as you have limited control over what the DSP does and large delays, pre-ringing, and group delay caused by the DSP can be a nightmare. I don't see a reason to make things even more difficult by adding the same issues to the mains. For me DSP is much better applied with a PC with plenty of processing power and software I have control over and a high performance multi-channel interface rather than trying to work around issues caused by "built in" DSP which is limited by low processing power and hard wired choices that don't fit my application.
