So how does Genelec have a 5, 6.5, and an 8 inch 2-way in their lineup?
Don't ask me, but my venerable O300D (3 way) sounds better than the 8050.

Adam also has a 2-way 8 inch and probably many others too

Genelec had and has also some 10" 2-ways and many more models like coaxials and mains which the much smaller company Neumann doesn't. A large driver is a compromise for the mid band which is the reason why some companies avoid it, even Genelec uses on their flagship 2x5" mid drivers instead of one bigger.

It doesn't. ADAM's pro monitors are the S series, and the only two-way model is the 7" S2V.

Genelec also has a 10" two way,in it's main monitors series.
Can't find it's xover freq though,it does state them in the other mains but not on this (S360A).
Edit:Found the xover freq,1.4Khz(!).
(someone has done some magic here integrating those drivers).

Neumann strongest suits are mics. Comparing Genelec with Neumann regarding studio monitors is like comparing cars offerings from Tesla and Ford, GM or Toyota. Genelec is an exclusive speaker company while Neumann is a multi products company in which mains products are microphones and happens to offers some very good quality studio monitors.
Sorry, but this is misleading. It not just "happens". Georg Neumann GmbH has been part of Sennheiser since 1991. Sennheiser then also acquired Klein und Hummel in 2005 and has since further developed their products under the "Neumann" name. The team and everything was taken over from Klein und Hummel, even the head developer (Markus Wolff) is the same to this day. Hence the "KH" in the Neumann product names.
Klein und Hummel has been making studio equipment from the 1960s. So the Neumann KH products are really looking back to a lot of history and experience with studio monitors.
Here is the K+H O98 from 1982, for example
and it´s successor, the K+H O198

And it´s successor, the O410
So, you see, Neumann is just developing the Klein und Hummel products further.

Also going by that logic then 8050 and 8350 are a compromise Becaue they're an 8 inch 2-way
I’m not miss leading, my point was to clarify that it’s not fair to ask Neumann to have the same offerings as Genelec does. After Sennheiser adquired K&H back in 1991, Genelec still is a much bigger company with much more offerings regarding studio monitors. And still, Neumann strongest suits are microphones, not studio monitors.
Because of advances in design of the woofer and the new DSP.
the 2 ways are designed mainly for near field listening in mind So smaller woofers can keep the distance between the woofer and tweeter sound emission points to a minimum
the 3 ways are more for mid field and they provide more range and SPL
in some cases where the midrange is strong enough like in atc speakers the even bigger main monitors have only bigger woofers but they keep the same mid and high domes
in other cases main monitors uses a couple of cone mids
it's impressive the undistorted SPL that some mid domes can provide in their optimal working range like Neumann of course
