Hello folks,
Sorry if this is not the right area to post, tried to be sure by finding similar topics and I think it is.
I'm planning my first ever setup for my Living Room (21x15 ft and has a bit less than 10ft height), the room is not treated, and I'm not planning to listen super loud. I have 3.5 yrs old kid and a neighbor downstairs that I don't want to drive crazy
. I'm a jazz player and aficionado, but we also listen to a fair amount of classic rock and classical music, I'm based in San Francisco if that's useful? (old Victorian apartment)
My plan is to be able to setup a MacMini to play FLAC files and sometimes Tidal (or an equivalent), that way the wife is happy. We don't have a TV or plan having one.
After reading these forums a lot and trying to learn, I think reasonable options to get started are:
Option 1, the simple route
I buy an integrated amp, a Yamaha A-S801 (or equivalent for ~1k) and spend the rest on Speakers.
Option 2, the everything separate route
I buy something like a purify build from Audiophonics as an amplifier and get a Topping E50 DAC (or equivalent), which puts me at a more expensive price-point but if worth it, I'm down doing.
Speakers
I never listen super loud, but I have a big enough living room. I've read several people in the forum liking their KEF R3's bookshelf speakers and was wondering if that could work.
Thanks for any help I can get since I'm a little bit lost at the moment.
