Recently got the Kali LP-UNF and have been enjoying them very much. But on some songs, I do notice that there's distortion? vibration? (not sure of the right word), no matter at what volume I play at... so I'd like to understand what is going on and if possible figure out how I can fix/mitigate this.

Since I don't exactly know what this is, I thought it best to explain by example. On Rockstar by Post Malone, 3:24 onwards, I hear it multiple times, I marked it on the spectrum below:

Otherside by Post Malone, towards the very end of the song:

I know I've heard it on other songs as well, but don't remember exactly which ones, I'll post more examples as I hear them.

You mean this song (otherside) :

(plot is by @Old_School_Brad )

Seems reasonable,if you push them,it's a small speaker.

It's low frequency content.

Also, try playing Sunflower by Post Malone, but start at a very low volume!
Watch your bass driver. :)

Oh, and to protect your speakers when playing this type of music, consider using a high-pass filter set around 40-50 Hz.

Looking at your speaker manual, it does include dip switches for high-pass filtering.

First, my understanding of sound is limited to like and dislike, and second, I listened to the aforementioned songs (YouTube) on my LPUNF - I liked the sound.

Thanks for your replies!

@Old_School_Brad I tried the dip switches, and not sure it is helping. Sunflower sounds perfectly fine, I notice nothing on that track. Maybe recordings will help? I've made recordings with both dip switches down, and one with the following high-pass filter:

@dedobot interesting! What was the volume on the Kali and volume on your device? Not sure if there's ideal volume you should be using for the Kali?

It definitely has these abrupt cuts and overlaps, and in those moments, energy seems is added to the very low end and higher up as well. I think that’s what creates that "finger on drumskin" tack, tack effect. I can hear it clearly on my laptop as well.

The source is win7 laptop , USB connection. LP-UNF volume at 9, windows at %50,youtube at 1/3. With this config the spl is around 60-70db. Switch #3 UP on Kalis. Usually I'm using foobar /wasapi shared, no sound corrections/ with same volume's settings and similar outcome.

This is the setup, room is 7x5m:

"No filter" sounds pretty much like it does here, honestly. Maybe a bit boomy, you might be hitting a room mode there (not to mention fundamental boundary gain from wall mounting - rear DIP switch settings should be down-down-down-up-down-down-down to engage the -2 dB LF trim, and you may need to resort to using the programming mode as that alone may not even be cutting it). Maybe that's why the bass is calling so much attention to itself in the first place. Nothing wrong with your speakers as far as I can tell.

As an aside, please avoid uploading WAV files to the interwebs. Even if you insist on lossless, FLAC would have shrunk them to about 40% in this case.

I wonder what switch 3 UP (close to the wall, no desk or raised upon desk) exactly does?
An LF trim or something more complex ?
