Need help getting HDMI ARC to work with a fairly new LG OLED TV

To avoid audio issues using an ARC or optical connection to a device such as the A40, PCM should be selected in the LG TV’s Digital Audio Out setting so that only two channel PCM signals are output to the connected device.

It has been interesting using eARC, ARC and optical connections with different settings in an LG TV. Though, I would not go so far as to call it fun.

If it does that on ARC then someone screwed up their ARC implementation - it's only allowed to send formats that the receiving end says it can accept.

It seems many are screwing up many things these days. There are so many possible TV and ARC or optical connected two channel device combos out there. Not every combo will get everything right, though the worst of an ARC connection may be no sound at all.

In this particular case, HDMI-CEC is not fully supported for control and an optical connection using the LG TV’s Universal Remote Control functionality may do the trick when connected to the Loxjie A40.

To control a device connected to an LG TV using an optical cable, go to All Settings>General>Devices>External Devices>Universal Control Settings>Optical and then select the brand of device. Loxjie will not appear in the list of brand devices but can be entered manually. Select Power icon to run a code for control and repeat until it works. After getting the correct code, Power and Volume control should work. Two channel audio over optical will be every bit as audio over ARC. Good luck with it.

Thanks for your detailed information. I did not have this setting anywhere on my LG TV - I have attached the Model Number and an Optical Setting that I do have. I have since got my TV/Sound working pretty well. I have moved the Amp off of the ARC connection to the Optical, and moved my Set Top Box to the ARC connection. This allows me to turn on the TV with the Set Top Box and it goes directly to the Home Page of the Set Top Box (Which is what I want)... So, I've got things going to my satisfaction. I just have to power on the Integrated Amp and the volume is pretty much set where I want. I'm not a Home Theater type of guy and mostly into 2 Channel Tube Stereo for the last 25 years.

That is an older WebOS model. When using the A40 with the TV, try pressing the More Actions(3 dot) button on the Magic Remote. It should bring up options for TV or Soundbar. Select Soundbar and see if there are any settings there to use for volume control.

I tried that and did not see any setting that you mentioned... Image below
