I have owned a Loxjie A40 Integrated Amplifier for a couple years and recently put it to use as TV sound System with a couple speakers.
I have hooked up an HDMI cable from the TV's HDMI ARC input to the A40 and got the Sound working just fine.

The one thing I would like it to do is to Power On the A40 with the TV remote and control the Volume of the A40 also.
I have the TV set to ARC output as well.
Is this possible?

If HDMI-CEC is enabled in the TV's menu and the Amp does not react to the TV remote, then it simply does not support CEC.

Loxjie do not advertise CEC support anywhere, so that would be check out.

OK, Thanks. I was thinking that ARC by itself might do this....

You can buy an audio extractor for cheap from aliexpress. Hdmi in optical out. Had one several ago and worked well

This one on Amazon that is often recommended. It's $25 and amazon basics.

No - it's a protocol from the TV just carried through HDMI.

Do these amps have firmware upgrades available?

The cable needs to be HDMI 1.2a or more recent for CEC, but that spec is 20 years old, so unlikely your cable is wrong.

Understand that the TV has CEC support. It's the amplifier that has HDMI-ARC, but not CEC. And there are no firmware updates available at this time. I checked the Loxjie Web Site under support http://loxjie-audio.com/

Then to have all the good features, look at getting a newer streamer.

Understand, it's just an Integrated Amp, currently used for TV Sound. It's not a 'streamer', And it works fine.

Sorry I thought "Need help getting HDMI ARC to work with a fairly new LG OLED TV" was the issue - if it's sorted, everyone's happy.

ARC is dependent on HDMI-CEC and would not work otherwise. But, that does not mean all of the HDMI-CEC features are supported by a given device which seems to be the case here.

Yes, that is the case. Which brings up a question. What advantage (If any) does the HDMI ARC connection have over the Optical on the Loxjie A40. I have another device that could benefit by using the HDMI ARC connection.

No sonic advantages. Just the additional functionality of CDC ARC like volume control.

..and turning the amp on and off automatically when turning on the TV from its own remote

Since in this thread, it was determined that the Loxjie A40 did not have CEC and hence no volume control, that was my specific question. If the Amp in question does not have CEC, does the HDMI ARC connection on it, have any advantages over the Optical Connection?

If you use optical from TV, then maybe you can program TV remote to control an amplifier by IR? I have impression that my LG TV can do it, but I actually use eARC and have never tried.

Man, gotta really hand hold here.

If your DAC doesn't do CEC, then no there is no advantage to using HDMI ARC.
