I have a deal extended to me on a new Marantz 6014 for $899 that expires at 5pm today.

Would you guys take that over a refurb Denon 4500 w/ 3 yr warranty and Auro already activated for $999?

.... or over a refurb Marantz 7012 w/ Auro already activated for $999?

Appreciate any immediate assistance.

Incidentally, would the 7012/4500 carry stronger long-term value for resale down the road? I would think that the 6014 will depreciate quicker/harsher, or should I not be concerned about that if I’m keeping it for at least 3-4 yrs?

I have a 6014 and as far as I can tell it's pretty much like the Denon 3600h reviewed favorably here. Except the small port front. It does height virtualization without height speakers, btw.
I dont know anything about Auro. It isn't on the 6014. The 6014 does Audyssey well with the app.
Personally, I'd wait for the new editions if I could afford them, because I'm using external amplification.

I basically buy AVRs to decode and do volume and HDMI switching for multiple sources. Do the older models handle all the 4k HDR signals one may need in the next 3 to 4 years?

Unfortunately I won’t be able to afford $1199 for the upcoming 3700. I wonder how long it takes for the refurbs to hit the market and at what price they’ll be. Do the 7 pre outs work fine on the 6014?

Here’s what the 7012 says:

So, what did you decide?
Ha, well I tried to decide on the 6014, but the dealer is telling me that I need to buy it at full retail price on the site [$1600 tax included] and then he’ll adjust the invoice to reflect $899. I don’t have $1600 available, lol.... so I’ll see what his response is on how to rectify it.

I don't get it; I thought the 6014 was $899 (new) if you buy it by 5:00 pm?

Not good to be pressed by time when shopping for audio/video electronics.
Take your time, it's your life your entertaining pleasure and satisfaction.
Stress is no good nowadays, ever. Ask anyone extremely smooth and relax.

Stay safe, keep a good distance, take the time ...

It was a special promotion just for me after an issue I had with the company. The offer was there for the taking if I wanted it, but they would only honor it today since a unique coupon code has to be created which expires within an hour.

Went with the brand new 6014 for $899. Hopefully it’s a virtual performance-clone of the 3600.
