Hello there,
About me; I am living in EU, over 65 yo, like to listen classical, opera, jazz (lossless) music only and concert video. I like to watch world films with good soundtrack and sound environment.
What I don't like; hard-rock, rap, and US films without scenario but only special effects, the majority of them at this time IMO.

For the last ~10 year I have a Denon AVR-2313 and Monitor Audio Silver 5.0 speakers. Few weeks ago the receiver died. I tried to fix it but unsuccessfully; The switching PS doesn't start.
My budget is around 2500€ but maybe I will have to change the speakers, I will had more € ?
I am open to buy a device released 1+ y ago but with DV, HDR10+ compatibility.
I don't have more experience about audiophile hardware, could you help me to find a new config and answer my questions.
- 0. Where to start?
- 1. Should I go to the closest reseller to listen and buy?
- 2. Should I change the speakers? How to split it between amp and speakers?
- 3. I have read in the site that more and more users have a 3 channels main amp + smaller one for surround. How do they get the processed and DAC signal from HDMI to analog? These type of devices are very expensive.
- 4. I was thinking to transform my old AVR2313 to a analog amp only and use it for surround. Is it a good idea?

We start with that.
Thanks for your help.

You’ll probably be fine with a Denon x3800h and have money left. It’s an excellent AVR, and you could spend some additional money on a Dirac license so you can have the best possible room correction. I don’t think you’ll really need external amps.

Speakers are the number one product that determines the sound, so logically spend your money there. You have a 5.0 system? Maybe a sub would be useful? It will most certainly add additional depth to the sound. Should fit within the budget next to an AVR, and still leave you with cash in hand.

Thank you for your advice,
Could you let me know,
x3800h has internal 9 channel amplifiers and 11.4 channels processing. Is it possible to use 3 pre-out to an external 3 channels amplifier (audiophile) for L,C,R and use 8 (11-3=8 processing) to 8 internal channel amplifiers for the surround?

Thanks

Yes, you can do that. I would first try without though.
