Hi everyone,

Tidals best experience is definitely over Windows. I'm looking for a fanless mini pc option or some other alternative. Any suggestions? Also is the power supply to the pc a concern or is that all bs? The dx3 pro has good usb implementation it seems so I hope I can use a cheap source and not have to worry about noise.

I have Asus UA360C, passive cooling (i3 i think), SSD, 3200X1800 touch screen. I use it with Meridian Explorer2 to pre amp.
Haven't noticed any difference between battery and power cord. No audible noise through DAC+usb.

Between which options did you compare before you said that the best results for TIDAL can be achieved only with Windows? By what criteriaS did you compare the options? Thank you in advance for your answers and explanations!

Something like this?

Plenty of options:

Good review here: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-mini-pc.html

For that I use a 2nd hand Lenovo ThinkCentre M73 Tiny - dirt cheap and dead silent.

Hi, I don't like to ignore the OP question but I wanted to offer a challenge and an alternative

WiiM Mini => Optical => DX3

Bit-perfect streaming, very good Tidal integration, no noise issues, cheap ... you'd have to hate the WiiM App to prefer Windows (especially a version that is going out of support).
It's entirely your choice

OP is 2018 :D :facepalm:

DoH!

I would be very grateful to you for your thoughts on OP's statement that the best way to use TIDAL is Windows (not taking into account the fact that support for Win-10 is about to end). [ I use UAPP, but its 10-band PEQ is not enough for me, and I do not know how to solve this problem].

"Best" is subjective which is the problem.

WiiM provides bit-perfect streaming from Tidal, and I like the App so I'm happy with the user experience. You won't get improved sound quality with any other method, but you might *prefer* the experience under Windows - that's up to you. Personally, it's not worth it for me.

Something like this?
I have an older version connected to my TV and stereo (MeLE PCG02), and it does the job.
TIDAL .... Windows ... ?
I don't know anything about Tidal, but since someone else mentioned silent windows laptops, then I will offer up something different - silent Chromebooks! It just so happens that Linus Tech Tips did a video on cheap laptops today, and in response I posted some tips on reddit. I'm not typing it out again, so here's the link:
And here's part of it;
These Intel based Chromebooks have a special trick too! Because they are normal x86-64 cpu's, you can enable "dev mode" on Chrome OS, and that lets you install normal Linux programs instead of just android "apps". So for me, I installed the normal/desktop Firefox browser. You should also be able to take it a step further and install Wine or Proton, which should let you use Windows programs too!
