Nakamichi Dragon "Soundbar" - Feedback/help needed

This is pure nonsense.. 25% volume can mean anything…
If it refers to amp output, it means you can only expect about 6 more dB above those values at 100%... meaning it will only do 88dB at 30hz and 80dB at 20hz. Not the worst I've seen by any means but not enough to blow your hair back.

And now that I see the whole image, the 125dB with subwoofers is probably with the whole system going full out with either pink noise or at a certain resonance frequency...

Honestly I'd put as much faith in these numbers as I would single-ply toilet paper...

Here is how B&H which is their official reseller seem to have describe how they calculate the 3000 watts:
Bar amplifier output : 1500watts (Peak)
Surround power rating(What does that mean) : 250w per speaker
Subwoofer amplifier output: 500w per subwoofer (x2)

For a total of 3000w ... how in the world am I suppose to believe that these numbers are remotely true ? And ? Those number don't even make sense as a marketing point for this type of product ?

You really don’t know that. You don’t know how these volume controls work.. they can be linear, log, hybrid… who knows…

You're killing me hahaha ... anyways the frustration is also them coming out with a new subwoofer to basically fix their defect subwoofer that they sell at 1500USD each ... I don't mind paying that for active subwoofer that I can reuse for the next 15 years and that come from reputable brand but to basically sell to your current customer a fix for their subwoofer at 3000$ for a standard subwoofer that we're suppose to trust go down to 19hz and the specs are as well out there as what I sent you ... No thanks haha

Also to make it easy instead of having people watching Andrew Robinson full review tho credit to him.

Here is the measurement of the soundbar by itself (Please note that the default setting is that the subwoofer play from 200hz down to 20hz) and even with changing this the measurement of the bar didn't change. And beneath you can see the measurement with the subwoofer that literally dies at 40hz.You can also if you go see his video hear what the sub sounds like at 20hz(Or what it doesn't sound like)

When it comes to subwoofers (like any speaker) you should get independent data before buying...

@sweetchaos has created a pretty comprehensive guide here:

Not impressive, you can get the same performance from any pair of bookshelf speakers and a moderately priced sub. For even $500 per sub you can blow the doors off this.

Put the soundbar out in the street for kerbside pickup or just take it straight to the recycling centre. Admit it was a mistake.

Soundbars are an abomination to high fidelity and Nakamichi is not a brand anymore- it's just a sticker. Get a proper pair of loudspeakers, maybe attractive standmounters or good looking floorstanders (to please the wife if you have to) and a decent stereo amplifier- perhaps a subwoofer or two. Not a cheap-ass AVR. Forget all the wireless surround stuff. In a family room, acoustics are never ideal and people sit all over the place, so two high quality channels are all you need and it will sound way better than crappy surround/effects.

Although I am also not a fan when old legendary brand names are abused for modern generic Asian stuff from objective point of view most such cases performe worse than those "Naka" soundbars, here an example:

That's your opinion, and there's nothing wrong with that. In the end, though, it's just as much a compromise as any other. I had a decent pair of Genelec speakers next to the TV before the soundbar and I have to disagree, at least when it comes to video content. The immersion my soundbar brings is just loads better, no matter where you sit. For video content, I prefer it by quite a margin. For music, though, I do prefer a good pair of stereo speakers for sure, although some of the good Atmos mixes work very well on the soundbar as well :)

I'm sure there are some good soundbars. You likely have one by the sound of it. :)
Granted, most are really bad! Neither would I have bought mine for full price. It's just not worth it. Neither is it worth it without a decent sub, which is probably true for like 99.99999% of all other soundbars, including the Nakamichi. And quite frankly, most don't come with a decent subwoofer either, as is evidenced here.

Having said this, those new 12" Nakamichi subs look way better than the old ones. They seem to have a decent cast frame (vs the stamped steel), and a big motor. A big improvement from the dual 8". Sadly, the PR is also only 12", so yet again, this will probably limit output. And at $1499 a pop, it's probably not worth it, though. The same money will deliver you two other decent commercial subs.

Yes that's the problem is that for this kind of money, I'll just get 2 decent subs and integrate them myself and slowly work my way with my wife to move away from the Nakamichi ... I need to save the face a bit with the wife first...

Then maybe, replacing the woofers is the way to go after all.. It's not something very noticeable and is probably the cheapest option. Maybe you can make them closed boxes so they go a bit lower.

Maybe this might fit:

Well that's where the wife burned me a bit ... in our living room I have a 10 years old+ 5.1 that I assembled myself ... so typical towers, center, and bookshelf in the back... with active subwoofer and I use an adcom power amp etc etc ... We have the Nakamichi for 2 months and me and my wife the whole time said something is weird, it's loud and obvious the Atmos is better then my old 5.1 ... but really now we clearly think the old 5.1 sounds better ... You don't get the fancy over the head effect and blabla that's true ... but still ...

Oh I already look for this ... the problem is that to remove the drivers you need to remove the grills and the grills are heavily glued ... I tried glue solvent and special tools and it's a real nightmare ... true low cost workmanship (See picture you can see the drivers are attached from the front, so sadly you can't remove it without access to the front which have the grills)

Their website is hilarious. I know Americans measure in cheeseburgers per bald eagle, but this takes the crown:
