Nagra 4.2

[Purité Audio]

For sale a Nagra 4.2 in truth gorgeous condition.
Nagra 4.2 complete with power supply and all cables, instruction manual, all in superb condition.
I have owned the unit for four or five years I experimented with recording techniques but it has sat unused and that seems a pity, I will also include a box of unused new tapes .
Looking for around £1500,

Introduced in 1971, not sure the year of manufacture of my unit, but I could research the serial number.

Suggestion: You should also list it at Tapeheads.net, if you are a member...pretty active tape equipment buying/selling going on there, and Nagra's don't come up very often. It's a beauty...hope that one finds another good home!

Does the unit have any provenance that might help sell it ? Used during filimg of a known movie, etc...

No afraid not, just a very lightly used 4.2, years ago our then neighbour worked for the BBC and would often bring his 4.2 home with him in a leather shoulder holster and they are not light.
It always looked the business.

A this is from way back when Nagra was a real company the name have now been conscripted to sell some weird and very expensive high end tube stuff these days, with a design similar to this .

This a real thing . If I had endless amounts of $$$$ I would buy it and gift it to my old dad who probably used this among other things back when he was sound a engineer at SR (Sveriges Radio) .

Nagra is still a real company, but they have gone the route of McIntosh, capitalizing on the looks of their prior generation of product to manufacture products that, while still excellent, bear no relation to what made them great in the first place.

Nagra bump, well worn cliché but I would prefer someone to have it whois actually going to use it and maintain it, it is a very clean example.

did he decide to just not take it back to work one day? there's a different kind of 'provenance' I would be looking for.

I don’t know what happened to our neighbours machine he became ill left the Beeb and sadly died shortly afterwards.
