I have been a owner for a long time. With the EQ profile shared by @Maiky76 and some minor tweaks, this headphone sounds really really good. Comfort is horrible though (I have the same headband version as the one reviewed). One way to get around that is to wear the headphone backwards and then reverse the channels (e.g. in Peace GUI). They don't clamp on the cheekbones so hard this way. And it's great that Peace GUI saves the reverse to the EQ profile so it switches back to normal when I change headphones.
Another dissappointment is the pads quality - the pads looked great when i bought the headphone (used) but have cracked and started flaking in just a few days of use. I tried Brainwavz lambskin pads but they sound absolutely terrible.
I agree on wearing it backwards. That’s what I do as well.
No clamping problems for me.
I bought it new and earpads started flaking with daily use after 6 years or so. I bought the spare earpads from NAD but the headband started flaking. I think it is fair considering the construction choices but anyway since then I tend to buy headphones with replaceable headband pad or with real thick leather.
About the NAD HP50, I would not suggest to buy it used.
very very good headphone anyway. A lot of good hours spent with it in the last decade
