Could you please elaborate a bit? You think DAC and preamp sections of RZ70 are already good enough so there will be no audible improvement by replacing them with M66’s ones?

No idea but it doesn’t matter.
If the RZ70 is not competent the answer is to replace it, not add a dumb layer of complexity on top of it. Further, if you’re willing to spend that much for an audible difference (I’d expect improvement but that’s subjective), then try to actually get one instead of gnashing teeth. I’d recommend replacing the Onkyo box with a processor that supports Dirac ART, and buying the ART license.

No reason to treat fewer speakers as magical fairy shit
Monoprice HTP-1 is a standout for price/performance/features. I’ve used Arcam and JBL Synthesis ones that were fine but notably less functional or refined (in terms of stability, etc) than HTP-1 (but had the advantage of built-in AirPlay). Plenty of others more and less expensive.
