As far as I'm aware there is now release date scheduled for the T799 in general, let alone DLART support. Release of ART on other platforms than Storm Audio is generally on hold, so it is basically wait and see, maybe some time this year, maybe next...
Are more details available somewhere? The list of changes is pretty vague.BluOS 4.8.19
Released February 5, 2025
• Updated Dirac Live support for the M66.
• Performance improvements and feature enhancements.
• This release applies to the NAD M66 only.
Support for the USB microphone adapter and the Bluesound Room Calibration Kit.
A UMIK should now also work directly on the M66.
The developers don't even know what the problem is but patched the BluOs to reassure the customersAre more details available somewhere? The list of changes is pretty vague.
I'd appreciate knowing in what circumstances it is more convenient to connect the mic to the M66, rather than to the computer that's processing the measurements. (A sincere question -- I've always done it the other way with my Anthem gear.) Would you mind saying a few words about that?I am thrilled with this update. I can finally use the usb intake behind the m66 to connect the mic for Dirac measurements. I tested it as soon as I got home and it worked. NAD deserves an applause. Keep it up please.
One less variable to worry about. Especially in the PC world, there are so many variations of configurations that it’s hard to ensure everything is working correctly together. By plugging it into the M66, you know the PC won’t interfere with the measurements. Also, calculations are not done on the PC, they’re done in the cloud as per Dirac Live documentation.I'd appreciate knowing in what circumstances it is more convenient to connect the mic to the M66, rather than to the computer that's processing the measurements. That won't be quite right. Disconnect the internet connection before the calculation. This should still work. The cloud seems to provide supportive computing power.calculations are not done on the PC, they’re done in the cloud as per Dirac Live documentation.
The circumstance which makes it more convenient to connect the mic to the m66 rather than a computer is strictly ergonomic and aesthetic, in my case. I have an ugly desktop computer in my bedroom and my m66 is in my living room. Connecting the mic to the computer is not practical or convenient or pleasant but connecting it straight into the m66 is the easy and rational thing to do, in this case. Thanks to the update, I can now comfortably use my iPad for Dirac measurements. As they say, the devil is in the details. This devil is happy!I'd appreciate knowing in what circumstances it is more convenient to connect the mic to the M66, rather than to the computer that's processing the measurements. Not to sound like the lawyer I was in my pre-retirement days, but if NAD doesn’t provide a Dirac Live Bass Control upgrade to the M33, a lawsuit for false advertising/breach of contract would be an appropriate response. I’ve generally been quite pleased with my M33, but it is simply unacceptable for manufacturers to promise features which are never provided. NAD is one of the worst offenders. This is interesting. When I was doing testing, I could see several megabytes of data being uploaded when doing the filter design. I wonder if this changed recently because people were having so many issues with Dirac servers in 2023/2024? Regardless, it’s great software and the biggest improvement I’ve experience in home audio.
Pogo, do you have any info if we’ll ever get Dirac Bass Control on our M33s? I assume we’re not getting it and will have to pony up for the v2 version in the future…
In an industry that sells $600 AC cords, there are bigger fish to fry. I can’t even find what promises were made by NAD at launch. Either it’s been wiped from the internet or it may have been a magazine that mentioned it and got it wrong. Does anyone have any official correspondence from NAD that says DLBC was a promised feature for the M33?Not to sound like the lawyer I was in my pre-retirement days, but if NAD doesn’t provide a Dirac Live Bass Control upgrade to the M33, a lawsuit for false advertising/breach of contract would be an appropriate response. That’s pretty damning evidence! Thanks for digging that up. I’m going to email NAD and see what they say. They should at least put in some effort to make it up to us if they’re not going to deliver this capability. In NAD’s July 20, 2020 press release for the M33 under the heading “Dirac Live Room Correction on Board”, NAD stated: “The M33 also supports Dirac’s advanced ‘Bass Control’ feature with two independent subwoofer outputs.*” The footnoted material says “*Some features will be available via a future software update.”
