NAD M33 V2 (with MQA QRONO and FOQUS) and NAD M23 V2, both with 2nd generation Purifis

I've had my M33 V2 unit for a few days, upgraded from an M10 V2, powering B&W 805 D4s.

A huge upgrade, it really does sound good, and overall I am very pleased with the purchase. There are a few bugs that firmware updates should fix, for example speaker and sub pops on power up, and DIRAC mysteriously disappearing from the menu a couple of times.

But...there is a big big but especially considering NAD's history with the feature....no DLBC.

I emailed NAD about it and was told thus;

"Unfortunately, as of right now, the Bass Control for Dirac has not yet been released for the M33 V2".

This is disappointing bearing in mind the unit is being marketed as DLBC enabled (as was the V1 before it).

Nice upgrade with the M33V2, i am sure it sounds great but do not expect Dirac Bass Control any time soon.
I have the NAD M10 V3 (Dirac Live Bass Control) and if i would upgrade later i would buy a NCx500 or Purifi 1ET6525SA amplifier and use the NAD M10 V3 as a pre-amp and save 5500€.

Same old story with NAD, unfortunately. Whatever happend to their new AVR, the T799? They presented it over a year ago, as if it where ready for release?
At this point I would expect nothing from NAD that is not allready available at release.

At last an M33 V2 owner!

Two questions, prompted by my ownership of other Master Series - M32, M12, M33, M66 and M50.2

1. Can you set a different (or no) crossover for the Main Out when Subs are present?
Note - M12 and M32 allowed the mains to receive the full range, even when subs were present, This feature was removed with M33 and M66. Why do I ask? I have genuine full-range speakers (with twin 12" bass drivers), so I insist that they continue to receive the full frequency range, even if subs are present

2. Can you connect the HDMI socket to a TV's HDMI socket and see the album artwork or radio station info displayed on the big screen?
This fesature is present with the M33 V1 and the M50.2, but to my disappointment, has been ditched from the M66. If the V2 offers this feaure, I may well change from M66 to M33 V2 as the latter has a slightly better DAC and I'd have the choice of using the V2's Gen 2 Eigentakt, or my Atma-Sphere Class D monos for amplification.

Thanks for any comments or other observations of the V2 compared with V1 if you ever owned that great unit.

I just ordered my M33 V2 yesterday, and it will arrive sometime in January. My dealer gave me a very sweet deal and offered me his demo unit until my unit arrives
:) I wonder how it will compare against my NAD C399. My speakers (Quadral Vulkan 9) are very easy to drive and even sound good with a N330 Powernode.

I'm sure the M33 V2 will be considerably better than the C399. The Master Series is a big jump up from the C Series, despite in some cases, similar spec on paper - see photos of the innards of the M23 and C298 that are both Purifi Eigentakt power amps.

The Quadral speaker is, I would suggest, only "relatively" easy to drive - it has a nominal 4 ohm impedence that is low for some amps and its sensitivity is only 88 dB. My own M33 V1 (or M66 with A-S Class D amps) has a much easier load - 18 ohm and 107 dB. I had a Vulcan on loan for a while and it was very happy being fed by the M32 I had at the time, so I'm sure you'll have no concerns with the M33 V2. Please let us know your views on the new amp once you've had it for a while, in particular could you address the questions I raised in my post #66 above. Many thanks and good luck.

I love the device but 6500€ for a eigentakt amplifier is alot. :)

Blu OS id really unstable especially compared to the WiiM app

That should still be the case: Link
I hope that NAD will soon be releasing an M28V2, which will then also be bridgeable, similar to a Lyngdorf MXA-8400, but with the second generation Eigentakt.
Hopefully soon since the first generation was launched in 2020

Let us know how it compares to the first generation
The dealer sent me his M33 (first gen) by mistake. But it's probably the best. I have been listening to it since Christmas. That way I can maybe notice a step up with the M33 V2 easier. What I can say is that I could easily live with the normal M33. It sounds great :)
