NAD M33 V2 (with MQA QRONO and FOQUS) and NAD M23 V2, both with 2nd generation Purifis

Man, they really want to make hay with the all the pseudoscience they got from MQA. One notable absence in NAD's lineup is an update to the C658, it's one of the few components they sell that doesn't have the new streaming/Dirac platform. Maybe they don't want to undercut the Masters series stuff on price.

The price .. wow ..
It's a weird spot in the market because it's well above "enthusiast" pricing but it might actually be too low to be properly high end compared to the companies who routinely charge $10k+ just for a DAC or streamer. That said if I was ever going to build a $10k+ system I'd take a hard look at this.

Gen 2 Purifi Eigentakt™ amplifier modules for the M33. Anyone knows which modules? 1ET9040BA?

Based on 1ET6525SA, which can be bridged again and thus provide more output power at 4 and 8 ohms than a 1ET9040BA.

@Lars Risbo
What technical data can be expected with the 2nd gen Purifis in bridge mode? They should actually be better than the previous 1ET400A implementation.

Anyone know if this can use subwoofers but not use a high pass filter on the main speakers?

This might be more of a Dirac Bass Control question, not sure. But when I read about the M33 v1, I learned that if you use any subs then there’s always a high pass filter for the mains.

I have a weird setup in a large (20’x50’?) open room. I have repurposed some now-unused ceiling speakers as poor-man’s subs (with large Revel fronts), just to get some extra bass. Not *necessary*, but nice enough that I have held off swapping my complicated set of separates for an m33.

I’d love to put huge real subs in the room, but there’s no good spot for them, unfortunately.

Use the the pre-outs without the sub setting.
Ah, ok. I assume I could put a low pass filter on them using Dirac or something? They're full range speakers, I just don't want to use the other cones.

Thanks!

If you use the pre-outs for the subs they get the same signal as the main-speakers, so no bass-management in Dirac

I love the device but 6500€ for a eigentakt amplifier is alot. :)

Sure, it's alot. But it's part of their premium range, and a high quality beautiful beast with practically all what we can need in connectivity and versatility.

Maybe NAD will release an integrated connected amplifier with the same features and up to date Purifi or Ncore module in their classic range, plain looking but much more affordable.

Think the timing is a bit awkward. Some people might have bought the recently launched M66 with one or two M23s to learn that there is a new M23 coming up in 3 months

See here for the V1: Link
Thanks, wasn't aware that the V1 did have that much output power in bridge as well. But now that I check the specifications a bit more, I wonder why the V2 hasn't higher output power than the V1. See the factory specifications from Purify. But the Eigentakt list is also a bit strange. calculating first with 1% THD and at the bottom with 0.1%.

I don't think it is good form to create a thread, then refer us to a discussion of the topic on another forum. If you want to use that forum for discussion you shouldn't post here.

Really pseudoscience: Link
So one guy, arguing with Archimago (who I respect and trust when it comes to digital audio stuff), mentions a completely different white paper that might be what all this stuff is doing and I'm supposed to just believe it. As far as I'm concerned everything remotely related to Bob Stuart is fruit of the poison tree, there was an equal amount of big words and unreviewed/unsupported white papers when he was trying to sell MQA in the first place. They're the ones making the unsupported assertion that all this ultrasonic filtering tricks actually makes audio sound better and it's the same people who were absolutely using this exact technique trying to shoehorn their lossy DRM-laden scheme into all of digital audio for a decade. Let's see some research, like, with results.
