NAD C 298 Power Amplifier With Purifi Eigentakt Amplification

Welcome to the C 298 club Mastabassa,

You might want to check to see if Auto Sense is turned on and check the Auto Sense Level setting (three position switch on the back).

Check the Auto Stanby setting too.

FYI after changing to a different preamp on one of my C298s, it kept going into Auto Stanby despite receiving an input signal and using 12V trigger cable. What's weird is that having Auto Sense and Auto Stanby turned on didn't cause any issues with the previous preamp w/12V trigger.

Good luck, Martin
Yeah both of these are on, seems to be working fine now! My main concern is the firmware version showing up as 2.01 now lol

the auto shut off only seems to be working at a 50% clip, should I use a 12v trigger instead? It’s going in to a wiim ultra.
I feed my C298 with a Wiim Ultra. I use the 12 volt trigger, and the C298 wakes up promptly.

I previously fed the C298 with balanced inputs from a Bryston preamp. The C298 wakes up quicker with the 12v trigger from the Wiim than it did with the signal feed from the preamp. With the preamp, it took acoupla seconds.

I like that NAD standby is low power. M22 spec is <0.5W. Lately a lot of stuff I happen to be looking at have standby of several watts. E.g. Rythmik L12 standby spec is 7W! Can't they do better?
The standby power >0.5W is an EU requirement for all electronics

The european law is =or lower then 0.5 watts, with the exception of those apparatus that require a information display, like a tv.
Those may use 8watts.

Hello
Recently, I've managed to sell my old 2008s NAD 375BEE and now I need to replace it.
What power amp should I get.
I have Heco celan 903 and Canton RC-L, 4 Ohm speakers, 93dB and 87dB.
Also, my setup Wiim Ultra - coax - DAC/PREAMP Teac UD 507.
Need an amp to handle 300W speakers not simultaneously of course.

I'm considering NAD 298 for a long time, but not sure it will suit me after 375Bee A/B amp.
Also I'm looking at Rotel 1582 or Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 3.
Or, actually I have rly good offer with new open box NAD 375bee, which I rly like.

This choosing drives me crazy

I have had no issues with the c298. Either NAD should be fine (and probably the other two as well). It should suit you just the same.
