NAD C 298 Power Amplifier With Purifi Eigentakt Amplification

Well, having just returned a c298 (not my cuppa tea) and listened to a m22 v2 in my local shop, I thought I would share my opinion, not based on readings you can not hear, but what you the human ears can hear (mine anyway) like i say it's an opinion, I've heard Amplifiers that measure not the best but sound great (to my ears) cheers oh wise one (no worthy).

Opinions don't matter much. Take your anecdote...you didn't like an amp in your room with your speakers. Then you went to the shop and listened to another amp, in a different room with presumably different speakers and music. That led you to advise a new member that one amp is more "musical" than another but "both will work fine with movies".

Now tell me honestly what do you think that opinion is worth?

Well i took advice from a member on here. Advising to go with the c298 over an inferior measuring amplifier (roksan blak) what a huge difference, one sounds good and accurate(c298)... but can not play musical if it tried, have you heard a cymbal on the c298 or for that matter the nilai? No decay equal sounds unnatural , I'd rather lose a bit of transparency, so that it sounds like actual music. Home cinema is different won't matter as much.

None of that is a function of the amplifier.

Thanks for the help. I'll go with the M22 then. I wasn't sure if the 298 contained any newer tech that'd outperform the older M22, but if they're all the same, then M22 seem like the better deal.

I have both NAD C298 and M22v2 and subjectively cant’t here any difference. The M22 have more power (300w. 8 ohm) which I need to drive my Wharfedale Jade 5.

Thank you!

I have an old NAD C275BEE. I’m sure a lot has happened since then, but perhaps reusing that is the best option until it craps out.

Not really. Look at the NAD 2200 review.

Oh, so not much has happened... Then I'll save my money. Thank you!!

Hey
Have a question about implementation C298 into my system.
Right now, I have:
Stereo integrated amplifier - NAD 375BEE
Speakers - Canton Ergo RC-L w/ black box
  • Power handling (nominal/music): 200 / 350 Watt
  • Efficiency: 89.7 dB/1W/1m
  • Frequency response: 18 - 30.000 Hz
  • Transitional ranges: 300 / 3,500 Hz
  • 4 Ohm

Would I get profit by adding C298 as power amp to my 375Bee as preamp?

To elaborate, the preamp section of the 375BEE is possibly noisier and more distorting than the amplifier section, if my experience with the C272 is an indicator. You may get better audible performance using a lower THD+N preamp with the 375BEE amplifier section.

Why would you think any of that is audible?

The 4 ohm power rating is double, so *maybe* you get a couple clicks more volume. If I felt I needed more power I'd want one of the big amps, like 500+ watts into 4 ohms.
