This will be a subjective cliffnote like thread of my 20 plus year rabbit hole I've been down in improving my listening room. I can't get into specifics as that would take weeks to type up but will answer questions along with updating the thread.

The room is 16×22, 8 foot cieling. Have used many different brands but it's always been at least 7.1 the Logic 7 music codec was nice for music. Now I use Aura 3d for music with a custom preset for music.

First started out with Boston Acoustic 7.1 T1030 sys with a big RPTV. Lol

Then tried some other main speakers. The Klipsch, Paradigm Sig s8, Folks, etc. Settled on the Klipsch rf83s.

Added Klipsch aw650s for 7.1.4 atmos then tried 10 plus center channels to replace the rc64.

Settled on the Monolith 365 but then the Performa 3 Revel sale caught my eye.

I got the c208 and the wife liked the walnut finish so she talked me in to getting the f208s. yeah right...

I then bought 8 of the Revel s-16s for surround and atmos.

Slowly replacing speakers, lifting the TV up 2 inches, making mounts for the atmos. Repositioning them...

During the years I also started getting into multi sub and room optimization. Now run 3 Monolith 15v2s via mini dsp using REW and mic. Will be using MSO and MultiEQ-X after the room is fully completed.

I just need to remove my old corner equipment rack buildout and finish the front of the room.

Reposition the subs...

Pictures. Tomorrow I'll get in to some subjective opinions on the journey.

I realized I forgot to explain how the speaker replacement journey started.

The removal of the built in corner rack and sound treatment was already planned and the room has always been a work in progress.

I was happy with the Monolith center after trying a bunch of them and then the Revel sale happened.

I bought the c208 in Walnut finish because they did not have black and the wife loved it. I've never cared for looks actually but told her I could get the f208s in Walnut and she surprisingly said yes.

If they had the black in stock I may never have gone down this journey. ;)

Things escalated and I got 8 of the Revel s16s for surround and atmos.

Work is continuing along with some testing. The Revels sound really good without room correction.

I actually listened to the Klipsch rf83 and Revel f208 as a stereo pair level matched and was surprised at how close the voicing was. Until I moved in any direction.

The Revel combo up front really has a nice even soundstage. Am also loving the s16s as surrounds and atmos. Huge improvement there.

Journey continues...

Edit. By the way the rear and side surrounds are not as high as the camera makes them out to be. They are less than 12 inches higher than the tip of the f208s so they can clear the recliner headresys. Etc.

Been busy moving my son in to his dorm and other crap.

Finally got the atmos speaker hooked up. All speakers are good to go. Impressed. The surrounds and atmos especially.

Can start working on removing the corner now.

So been busy researching. Going over gaming computers as my son needs one in his dorm. College ug...

So replacing both my gaming computer and his. My old gaming computer will be his home gaming PC and my storage server. Recycling parts for now.

This will be mine.

And his.

I usually build my own pcs but these are perfect.

Revels are very good even without room correction. Subs are though.

Tearing the corner up next. How it looks now.

Got his PC done. Corner removed now. Need to get the wall built up and tile done.

One thing I've noticed the Revels will only need to be eqed up to the room model frequency. I will do some curves/presets for music though.

So cleaned up the corner and fixed some loose ends like cleaning and rehanging the Cowboys planes, cleaned up and ordered wiring, mapped the modes in the room for sub placement, etc

2 of the subs will be shifted to the front left corner and right quarter room point. 3rd will be on the right side wall mid room reinforcing a null I have due to the open foyer on the left wall opposite the subwoofer.

Put some of the Sound panels up and am rethinking some things. May cut them down a bit and will need to do some trim.

For reference the front wall panels are almost 6 inches deep and 4 feet high. Subs are a little shorter than a mini fridge.

Front stage and corner shots. More to plan, engineer, and do. Then I can have some fun.

I will probably be using MSO with a mini dsp for subs and Multiq/x up to 350hz and music curves.

A question reference your panels in the corners. I had a dedicated listening room and the corner treatments needed to be really deep, 60cm plus deep corner traps floor to ceiling, to achieve any serious benefit. Have you tried putting your panels at an angle across the corner so you get the benefit of extra depth when including the airspace behind them?

They aren't for the subs. Mainly front wall SBIR and the thin 1 inch panels to help rt60 in the front half of the room. Eq for the subs.

See above but wanted to add. The space under the steps and foyer is really affecting the bass. Wall and tile next.
