That must have been challenging for a first dog. Our first was a x racing greyhound. Sweetest girl. We learned enough from her to tackle to great hound Borzoi.

I have a friend who took in "retired" greyhounds. She had four last I knew.

My Codybug, 3 years gone and my heart still aches. RIP my old friend.

This is Pickles(L) and Romey(R)"The Known Flight Risk" pre-adoption, known as Romanov-get it? Roamin' off. Pickles is definitely my shadow. I know how you feel about losing your friend. I lost my 11 yr. old Rottie Heidi and it hurt so much it was over 10 yrs before we got these. Wish I had done it much sooner - Love dogs, better than a lot of people.

For many of us there is a very special dog in our life, and Cody was it for me, like Heidi for you. He was fond of some stupid Talking Heads song and I'd sweep him up and dance around when it came on. He pretended to be irritated but he loved it, as I did. Thanks for sharing your pals. I was a veterinary orthopedic specialist prior to retirement; you and any of our ASR pals are welcome to PM me if you have an orthopedic related question (about your dog or cat). Orthopedic surgery is very expensive and often not necessary.

My pup, Charlie, playing with his girlfriend neighbors.

Great video! I love seeing dogs play like that - my daughter has two large dogs that try to gang up on mine but he has this move where he goes under them and lifts them up and takes their balance away. They can't seem to figure it out - we think he learned that when he was at the shelter before we got him - kind of like picking up fighting tricks in prison :)

My dependents. From the top; Sparky, Herbie, Trixie and Lucy. First 3 are long haired dachshunds. Lucy is a Tibetan Spaniel (aka Tibbies) which requires some explanation because they are very uncommon in this country at least. They were kept by the Tibetan Monks as watchdogs on the walls of monasteries and as companions. Strictly for alerting to danger, there were Tibetan Mastiffs to do the heavy work. They were also given to royalty as gifts. They are also considered one of the oldest breeds with illustrations of Tibbies going back 2000 years.

4 wieners!
Three and a half. Lucy is an honorary wiener although we were told that she was a Dachshund mix by the rescue group, but she acts and looks like a Tibetan Spaniel right up to getting up on the top of couches and chairs to get a better view outside. She also comes when you call, very undachshund like. None of them really listen to music. They're more TV watchers.

Our Dachshund loves doing that as well

Yeah, that’s a thing. They come when they want, not when you call ;)

This is my miniature poodle McIntosh (named after the beloved pooch from P.G. Wodehouses' Jeeves and Wooster stories, rather than the amplifier company or the computer manufacturer).

She is a lot of fun, and quite enjoys music (and doesn't mind me mixing at all hours); the only thing she feels uncertain of is tone sweeps. With tone sweeps she gives me an annoyed look and a whine. :)
