Hello everybody !
The simple question is what is the best solution for BOX ?
Idea is to connect everything to BOX and the through XLR to power amp. I checked a lot of (good) reviews and discoussion on ASR and have some ideas, but appreciate very much your opinion !

Apollon is still not ordered but is my big wish. I know i can make it more easier with some receiver or ? , but... i prefer smaller footprint device...dac..pre..or?...with good performance (SINAD), with decent build quality...

So what shoul be my BOX solution if I would like to connect all existed devices (TV, CD, WIIM pro plus, turntable) ?

Lately my listening habbits are: streaming 50%, turntable 30%, CD 20%. TV is not must, but, why not?

There is an easier solution to switch devices in/out depend on what i am listening to, but what will be all in one solution.

Thank you in advance

also:
wimm pro plus can be exchanged with other device
Power amp: i would like to have purifi clas d power amp, but I am open to other solutions :rolleyes:
Room aprox 30m2, listenig distance 3 m...
Devices should have more/less matched gain/impedance...

Seems like you can replace you WiiM pro plus with a WiiM ultra, and have all you might need?

TV via ARC, CD via coax/optical, Record player via RCA..

Your WiiM Pro Plus can be that box.

Turntable->RCA->WiiM

CD->Coax->Coax to Toslink converter->Cooidea Toslink Switch->WiiM

TV->Toslink->Cooidea Toslink Switch->WiiM

WiiM->RCA->Apollon Amp

Ideal box will be with:
line in for Turntable (ortofon 2m black + lehman audio pre)
coax in for CD (Arcam CD73)
opt in for Wiim pro plus (or usb in for some other streamer?
Earc for tv
XLR + RCA out
Your WiiM Pro Plus can be that box.

Turntable->RCA->Line in

CD->Coax->Coax to Toslink converter->Cooidea Toslink Switch->WiiM

TV->Toslink->Cooidea Toslink Switch->WiiM

WiiM->RCA->Apollon Amp

That was an option , but :), i would like to use XLR from BOX to amp...

Thanx static/woodooless

this is also solution , but converting RCA to XLR will use 2v output ! . So what will be difference to go with RCAto XLR instead of rca to rca ? noise?

Or... MiniDSP Flex.

We have a somewhat similar arrangement with a Flex in the middle.

staticV3's proposal should work too, for less $$. In that case you get converter, switch boxes and cables. With MiniDSP Flex you get a remote, volume (multifunction) knob, and the option for Dirac Live.

Yes. Balanced (using either XLR or TRS connectors) does common mode noise rejection. But note that a lot of very good audio systems use unbalanced interconnects (with RCA connectors). Hence we know that it's very common that you cannot hear the noise using unbalanced, even for phono cables, in which case using balanced offers no practical benefit.

I well remember this photo on the back cover of the old DG LP of Mantra. Look at the microphone cables draped all over and the big spools of excess cable. And mic signals are low millivolt level, like phono. That's where you want balanced.

However, if you have a balanced input on the downstream device and an unbalanced output on the upstream then by using the right cable, as staticV3 pointed or as I did here, you'll optimize SNR.

BUT I did not use the wiring in that diagram in the first post and wouldn't recommend it.
