So at hospital (ER) right now. Snapped my achilles tendon while playing badminton with my son.
Waiting to be examined, any med doctors here that can advice on what to ask doctors?

Ouch.

Having gone through this process with a partner, the only variable is what regimen they will prescribe and how long it will take to heal for that regimen. Some are faster than others but doctors do seem to fall into different philosophical camps as to what they are comfortable with prescribing. It is worth asking for a couple of different options and pros/cons depending on how fast you want to get back on your feet and functional. It will also depend on age.

Don't know how the medical system is in Sweden, but here in the US, I would be trying to find a good Sports Medicine specialist to work with that has seen a lot of these.

The good news is that you will be listening a lot to your audio system for a while in the near future and will be glad if you have a good one. ;)

If you didn't believe in remotes before, you will now.

Best wishes. I had exactly this injury 10 years ago, it's no fun, notably when the ankle joint also was injured. The hardest part was learning to walk again after 10 weeks of wearing a cuff 24/7.
I fully recovered within a year or so, not a hint of any after-effects (except that the repaired tendon is quite thick in the first years but shrinks after a while).

I did mine aged 35 playing rugby, complete tear , had op and physio , make sure you follow physio regime to try and reduce the repairing tendon to be as supple as possible. But after 12 months out play rugby until 51. Dislocated shoulder at 40 and finally at 51 snapped left bicep tendon so called it a day .Good luck

So sorry...

I hope you have as quick and uneventful a recovery as humanly possible.

You sound like me with cycling. A concussion, a severe scraping up from a slide, and finally a torn ACL with an uprooted meniscus, and I came to my senses and said adios to bicycles.

This is good time to perfect your darts/chess/mikado ticks - skills. I've been there: surgical intervention that involves tacking the 2 loose ends of the tendon together again and then 1 week in wheelchair with an Avenger type of plaster build around your foot + 8 to 11 weeks with the plaster but no wheelchair.

So sorry to hear. This happened to me about 30 years ago playing squash. The good news is that the healed tendon will be stronger than before, and you should be back to full speed in 9-12 months. Providing of course that you're careful not to re-injure it before it's fully healed.
