Let's not pretend that the only options are traditionally bland or some hideous, ultra-glossy, yellow-dyed birdseye maple finish.

Let's not pretend that's what I was saying.

Let's not pretend that the further away from traditionally bland the color goes, the fewer people who will like it. Or that it will fit with their room decor.

Red would be VERY bad in my room. Yellow would be VERY bad in my room. Whether I liked the color in isolation or not.

I am still recovering from being sick. My ears are plugged so don't want to try to listen. I am sure you can imagine the colorations from the measurements.
Hi Amirm,

Did not get that you were sick or did not remember that well !!!

Hope you'll recover as soon as possible...

Cheers.

Run away from that site, friends...

Completely subjective (non)review of the V1, but I love my pair deeply. I've had ~7 different speakers in my reasonably well-treated listening room, and the MA Knight 1 (V1) outclassed them all by a significant margin *to my ears*.

My last speakers in reverse order, were the Wharfedale Linton 85, KEF LS50 Meta, KEF LS50 Wireless, Boston Acoustic VS260, Klipsch RP600 - and then a couple of others.
I know, not exactly top of the line or anything to write home about, but again, to my ears (and that of a few of my audio enthusiast friends) the MA Knight 1 speakers sound much better. I guess it's all subjective, so your mileage will vary.

Regarding the look, you either like it or you don't... I'm a musician and I've collected quite a few snare drums. The Birdseye maple finish is generally used on guitars and snare drums...
Here's a summary of the difference between the V1 and V2 (attached).

BTW Legacy Audio specializes in this type of finish as well

PS : Thanks @amirm for this review. This is exactly what this type of test is for: to avoid this kind of nonsense : https://soundnews.net/speakers/passive-speakers/musician-audio-knight-1-loudspeaker-review/
I believe the Legacy samples are Olive Burl and Figured Sappele - I have a standard cherry finish but it is beautiful.

Why would a company ask for something to be reviewed by ASR unless they knew that it was a stellar product in alignment with ASRs testing techniques?
I applaud them for doing it. They may not have a Klippel measuring system, this way they get to see what's wrong and possible corrections for the next line up. SMSL, Topping and others have benefitted by having ASR test their gear. I think it's more like the G.I. Joe motto " G.I. Joe, now you know - and knowing is half the battle".

I think this is commendable and not something we should scold manufacturers for.

One can hope that the interaction between chinese loudspeaker manufacturers and ASR leads to the same improvements it led to when it came to chinese DACs and Amps. The potential manufacturing capabilities are there, the potential engineering capabilities are there. Todays top manufacturers in ASR amp/DAC reviews did not start out that way, but had rather humble beginnings:

I pretty much said the same thing as you :D :cool: but I hadn't gotten to your post yet. So you're seeing the same thing I am! Right on!!!
