Music You Strongly Dislike (Just For Fun)

I'd say those "who really care about music" take the effort to learn how to perform it. As a recording engineer I got to know a lot of "Classical" musicians—most of the musicians specialized in "Early Music", Baroque and earlier, some were performing 20th century music, sometimes inaccessible stuff. These people tended to be eclectic in their music tastes, a bit more open minded than one would expect. One medieval musician (a bit of an audiophile) gets ideas from Dead Can Dance. I only play a little—I/IV/V stuff, mostly—but I think that real engagement involves at least a bit of musical performance.
I don't think I'd be quite that restrictive, but it's a fair argument. My more limited experience with musicians and others involved in music production matches your observation about eclectic taste and open mindedness.

Me too. I suspect the Dude and I hate them for the same reason. Los Angeles had a thriving "Underground", "Free-Form" radio scene until the Eagles (and other acts managed by the same folks) got on the air.
I just hate em cause they are bad.

Autotune, except for Auto-tune the News.

We audio engineers used to joke about the "suck" knob, then it was reified as auto-tune.

My wife gave me a photocopy of this cartoon over 20 years ago. I still have it where I can see it, in a jewel case on top of a rotating CD case.

In spring last year I was taken to a Max Richter concert by friends I was visiting in Philly. I haven't disliked music so much since I went to a Godspeed You! Black Emperor concert over 20 years ago.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard anything by Max Richter to be honest. I had a similar experience being taken to an Andreas Vollenweider concert many years ago. Ugh! Nils Frahm has a similar effect.

The Godspeed lot make a quite pleasing racket as far as I remember, but I haven't seen them live. A bit po-faced though ...

Here for those of you in the thread who are a bit negative and averse to classic rock and roll. With deep knowledge and insight imparted by these rock and rollers, you might change your view: :D
