Hello all,

I am running a all digital setup comprising of lg g3 tv through a rme adi-2/4 pro se and genelec 8351b. Currently, I am using the tidal app within the lg tv to stream music but it is a little cumbersome to use.

I am thinking of added a dedicated streamer and have narrowed down to the bluesound node and wiim pro, which seems to provide excellent streaming user experiences (my key consideration)

Would like check with you guys for other streamer options, with focus on streaming user experiences?

Thanks!

Hi, why not just use the WIIM mini with Tidal connect?

I am using this combo. Perfect sound quality. However, Tidal connect seems somehow buggy - after some songs the Tidal app on my Android phone does no longer show the current song playing, the playback status freezes. Annoying from a user experience point of view.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the feedback. I used primary tidal, so thats a bumper...

I leaning towards keeping the adi-2/4 as it has usb input and aes/ebu output.

If using just the wiim, i would not be able to connect to a computer and would need separate optical to aes/ebu convertors.

Hi Steve,

Please do not misunderstand me - I did not mean to substitute your RME ADI-2 with a WIIM, just to add an inexpensive WIIM mini as streamer :) Connected to the RME via Toslink/SPDIF. I do not see the need for a larger WIIM model in this case.

Regarding the buggy Tidal connect functionality, other users may confirm or provide solutions for the issues I described in my previous post.

If you're an iOS user the wiim mini is fine as it has airplay (so you can stream files on your phone ) but if you're on Android id get the wiim pro as it has Chromecast built in for that added bit of flexibility .

For your use case I'm not sure how the price hike to bluesound kit makes sense .

I have a wiim pro and an rme and its a brilliant combo for tidal, Spotify, Amazon , qobuz and im sure other services

Also, can use upnp/dlna from other devices/storage.

There are lots of ways to add hi quality streaming to the RME ADI-2 DAC at affordable pricing. Here's some of the setups I use:
1. MacBook Pro: Qobuz: Audirvana: USB: ADI-2: Purifi: Revel F328Be
2. Wiim mini: Qobuz: Optical: ADI-2: Purifi: Revel F228Be
3. MacBook Pro: Qobuz: Wifi: RPI4: USB: ADI-2: Purifi: BMR Monitors

Wiim mini and an optical cable are the easiest and least expensive way to offer streaming to the RME ADI-2 DAC.

Thanks to all and aside to Mark, I misread your earlier post - my bad!

I am an andriod user, so the wiim pro seems the best choice. The good thing about the bluesound node is the earc input, which would be great for the lg tv (i am using optical in at the moment). But pricing is more than double the wiim pro, even for a used bluesound node.

Thanks to all again!

The you may consider the upcoming wiim ultra with hdmi input :)
