Hi All,

I'm a newbie here in regards to music sources so chasing some advice.

I've just finished building a high end 3 way floor stander, running off Hypex Fa253 Amps.
I'm setting this up solely for music and want to setup my source to be as high quality as practical for my application.
When I say that, I mean i know there is a DAC in the Hypex amps, but not sure how it all works depending on the input used into the Hypex. Is the dac
in the Hypex Always used? Or is that only when feeding it an analog signal? Whats generally accepted as the highest quality input to use?
As i say, complete noob here.

I've done a bit of reading on Wiim/Raspberry pi etc. Just not really sure which is ideal in my situation.

Ideally want a physical volume control on the unit if possible, and and happy to choose songs of my phone.

Any guidance would be great.

Thanks heaps

If you use the FA253 for crossover duties, then there's no way to bypass the built-in DAC.

Use the digital input, as that will remove one D->A and one A->D conversion from your signal chain, therefore preserving signal fidelity.

A WiiM Mini is all that you need for bit-perfect digital audio output.

The WiiM Ultra has a volume knob which works for digital audio output, but it's a good bit more expensive.
