MQA Update

I can't understand why the new MQA technologies are viewed so negatively. Listening impressions and measurements were quite positive. Either my M33 V1 will get a QRONO update or I will buy new hardware.

Because someone is pushing embedded shit on unwitting/unwanting consumers to monetize a useless «technology»?

Wonder if Any third part manufacturers will pay to get into this hype or will it stay within the Lenbrook universe.

You should also free yourself from this. This has nothing to do with a scientific approach.
The fact that they removed the ability to choose other filters is enough for me to stay away. I'd rather free myself from that kind of company and keep the resentment that they continue to earn.

Perhaps not, but I believe it was a reasonable response to the point you made regarding the new MQA technologies being viewed so negatively. I think the MQA debacle is the crux of the current state of play regarding their new tech. Many people simply do not trust the company or their tech.

Not to worry.

I may have this wrong, but I resent the potential for 16 bit red book, to be taken to 13 bit (UK FM noise levels) just because of some unneeded and unnecessary jiggery pokery with the last three bits. I mean, noise shaping can improve on the -96dB perceived red book standard and most half decent dacs these days can go far better if presented with the right material, so what the heck is the point? Please correct me if I'm wrong in all this.

Properly controlled listening impressions? Or the usual subjective BS?

See post #98.
We should also move away from the MQA file format in this discussion.
I don't see any listening impressions - controlled or otherwise in the linked posts.

Yes the IP has been sold forward and the new owner wants to make hay, behind all this is meridian audio's unsubstantiated idea about "apodizing filters" that was the name some decades ago this morphed into a part of the MQA concept ie it's filters ( MQA was more than that .. ) and is now continued into this form and is now productized this way .

At least it does not affect the playback material , we can use whatever we normally listen to and this is now a DAC specific process instead of fiddling with our music files and streams . Which is an improvement . It can be avoided by , not using this product or up sample in your source like ROON or something else ..
But there is a built in charge for you to have it in gear that would be fine without it. I call BS in every which way possible.

Some people don't want to see a very simple truth.

Our source file (FLAC, WAV, etc.) contains 100% of the data, which is the maximum that can be there. This is also the maximum that a DAC can output as a D/A conversion during playback; 101% is not possible.

For MQA or QRONO to provide any kind of improvement, a clearly audible deficit would have to occur in the conventional recording and playback technology, meaning you would end up with significantly less than 100%.

If that isn't the case, MQA/QRONO are absolutely useless, as has already been established with MQA. The same applies to FOCUS and AIRIA.

@Blumlein 88 has impressively demonstrated how "bad" our D/A and A/D conversion processes are in this thread "8th generation ADC/DAC loop vs the original.....can you hear it?"

We didn't have 100% before. But QRONO seems to be getting closer.

Then please provide some real numbers about where we've been so far and where Qrono is supposed to be now.
Substantiated and verifiable measurements and results would, of course, be helpful.

Similar statements were made about MQA back then, and it turned out to be a load of BS.

So, with a test track that is capable of generating imaging artifacts in the ultrasonic range, if you were looking how close the recording of the DAC matches the digital file from the phase standpoint, the Bluesound Node Icon with QRONO d2a actually beats the Fosi ZD3.
