For the laugh I decided to try this out...here are the results...note my graphs are 0.5db steps and psy smoothing...mic is an m30

...normally I only do EQ up to the ceiling mode (about 135 in my room), but for the laugh I decided to go up to 2kHz...I put a bit of bass back in after, REW auto EQ took too much out...I also made a few manual adjustments...also before was just flat (not my previous EQ)...

...note the 3rd last one, the moving mic wasn't really far off a single sweep at listening position (left channel here), I tried both a few times, bass was very accurate, though I have a rycote handheld shockmount, I'd say that helped https://mymic.rycote.com/products/invision-softie-lyre-mount-with-pistol-grip/ ...the difference in the mids/low mids is probably varying reflections off my desk...

I might try it all over again when I have a chance...for now it's a preset I can turn on/off...kinda liking it TBH, find I'm happy listening at lower volume, but it's a little harsh sounding; would need more work tbh (my guess is that 2-3.5k area is what's annoying me)...

I've been meaning to try the moving mic thing for a while...will deffo always use it in future, alongside single point sweeps...I tried doing it a bunch of times and was surprised at how close it always matched no matter what shape you made or moved fast or slow etc., even going outside of the listening spot a bit made little difference...cool technique, I'm convinced...making multiple sweeps, or even smaart and pink noise captures and averages is a pita, which is how i used to do it...

fwiw I've tried both sonarworks and dirac...bought sonarworks and the mic, but stopped using it; tried it multiple times and it never sounded right...just used dirac for 30 days demo but same conclusion...also have fir designer, got best results with that, but too much effort...like this mm and rew auto eq method...few manual tweaks; decent results fast...

by ear, a rough -1.5dB 1/3 cut at 2.5k seems to have sorted it...
